When it comes to the ongoing potential involvement of the Boston Celtics in the Milwaukee Bucks - Giannis Antetokounmpo trade saga, there has been an understandable reluctance among fans and analysts alike to take what has been reported regarding the Celtics' role in said saga seriously. Especially given the radio silence of reporters who typically break such news.

These trusted reporters had, until today, stayed out of the fray. But Boston Globe reporter Adam Himmelsbach, perhaps the gold standard when it comes to this sort of intel, has confirmed a few key details in a recent social media post. Firstly, and most importantly, when it comes to the Celtics and the Greek Freak, the "Celtics are in the mix."

As for whether Antetokounmpo would be a rental for Boston with only a single season left on his current deal, Himmelsbach reports that "Giannis’ camp has indicated he’d sign extension with Boston."

However, do not get too excited about these brief if important tidbits from the Boston Globe reporter. Himmelsbach also makes sure to note "it remains unclear how close the Cs and Bucks are to a potential deal."

At least some of the Bucks front office have created their own deadline of the 2026 NBA Draft that will go down tomorrow on Tuesday (June 23), so we may have a resolution soon. But this is also not the first time that was the consensus about the Giannis trade saga.
