With the 2026 NFL draft getting closer, Jacksonville Jaguars' GM James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen spoke with the media.
Here are the highlights from it. This article will be updated as the press conference unfolds.
- Gladstone noted how deeper conversations can be this offseason compared to last, where he and Liam Coen were just taking over in their respective roles.
- "He was someone we wanted to align ourselves with," Gladstone said about Travon Walker. Gladstone noted how well Walker fits and knows that he will take advantage of the opportunity ahead.
- "That's a tough one," Coen said about evaluating a tight end draft prospect's ability as a blocker. Coen mentions the ability for that player to get to the second level and handle those defenders.
- "Really excited about it," Gladstone said about the state of the Jaguars heading into the draft with 11 picks.
- "It's going to come with a lot of layers to it," Gladstone said about selecting the best player available vs. addressing a key need. There's a lot of nuance with those decisions, and the state of each position group now vs. down the road factors into that as well.
- Gladstone says that Travis Hunter will be limited during offseason programs with the goal for him to be ready for training camp.
- Gladstone on the challenges of waiting until pick No. 56: "You're always going to stay agile. You're never bored. You're always thinking through what might we be able to do."
- Gladstone said they'll run through scenarios to best prepare for when they are on the clock and the decision that may come.
- Gladstone says he tries to be aware of the Jaguars' draft tendencies, so that they don't become predictable to other teams.
