LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Heading into Tuesday’s state quarterfinals, there were just three teams from the WLNS viewing area remaining in high school boys state tournament.
All three teams are still alive and advanced to the state semifinals.
Division 1
Final: East Lansing 72, Ann Arbor Pioneer 60
The defending state champs will now take on Brother Rice in the semifinals on Friday at 2 p.m. Mr. Basketball winner KJ Torbert led the way for the Trojans with 24 points. Junior Kingston Thomas had 20 points, with 18 coming in the second half. Sophomore Tyree Anthony was big as well, connecting on three 3s in the first half and finishing with 15 points.
Division 3
Final: Pewamo-Westphalia 70, Schoolcraft 47
The Pirates reach the state semifinals for the second straight year and will take on Flint New Standard Academy on Thursday at 2 p.m. Pewamo-Westphalia was led by standout Grady Eklund on Tuesday. Eklund had 29 points and reached 2,000 career-points in the victory as well.
Division 4
Final: Concord 49, Colon 41
The Yellow Jackets will face two-time defending state champion Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian in the state semifinals on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Concord is 23-4 this season
