In track and field, Jacobsen was the 3,000-meter run champion in 2026 and ’25. She was also runner-up in the 1,500-meter run in ’26 and ’25. She was a two-time runner-up in the cross country state championships.
Most of a champion’s time is spent away from the pack.
“I think the biggest challenge I had to overcome was learning how to run alone. It’s very difficult to push yourself in races where there isn’t much competition because there’s nobody to race. I’m proud that I have been able to build my mental strength to the point that I am able to handle running alone at those smaller meets,” Jacobsen said.
The miles, the heat of West Oahu, the inner battle and struggle to push when the body says stop, have been worth it all.
“I’m so happy that I am able to be a part of the Hall of Honor. When I started running I could have never imagined making it here. I’m glad to be able to share my story with other athletes who are willing to put in the effort to succeed,” she said. “Competitive track and field before high school is not as widespread and accessible as most other sports, there are no public tracks in Hawaii, so most athletes like myself only have high school to set times and compete.
Jacobsen will run cross country and track at the University of San Francisco.
