May 21—MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University track and field and cross country coach Ryan Chase has resigned from his role leading the programs after two seasons.

Chase, 28, who took the job after leading the Mitchell Christian School track programs, helped his alma mater produce 16 all-GPAC honors between both indoor and outdoor seasons. DWU track and field had two national qualifiers in throwers Abby Magnuson and Ethan Watson during the 2024-25 campaign.

The Huron native was a member of the DWU track and field teams as a distance runner from 2016 to 2020.

"Coach Chase has done an incredible job as the leader of our track and field and cross country programs over the past two seasons," DWU Athletic Director Ross Cimpl said in a statement. "He has elevated our level of competition while significantly growing our program, and we thank him for his contributions felt across DWU, the athletic department, and our athletic programs. We are very excited to use this momentum to continue the program's success and find the next leader of Dakota Wesleyan track and field and cross country."

Chase will remain in the role through June 26 and will assist with summer camps, workouts and setting the 2026-27 event schedule until then.

A search for a new coach is underway, and

the job is posted online

through the DWU university website.
