The Cincinnati Reds are getting healthier in the midst of a 10-game stretch against NL Central opponents, which begins on Monday, June 22, against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers at Great American Ball Park.

All-Star shortstop Elly De La Cruz, who went on the IL with a hamstring injury suffered on the final day of May, will be activated on June 23, Reds manager Terry Francona told reporters.

De La Cruz spent three games with Triple-A Louisville. He had a single, then hit a 441-foot home run in the Bats' 9-8 loss to the Gwinnett Stripers on Friday, June 20.

De La Cruz will take live at-bats against injured closer Emilio Pagán at Great American Ball Park on Monday before the series opener against the Brewers. Pagan is nearing a return after suffering a hamstring injury in Chicago in May that landed him on the IL.

On Monday, the Reds activated reliever Pierce Johnson (elbow inflammation) from the IL and optioned Zach Maxwell to Triple-A Louisville. The team also called up journeyman right-hander Julian Garcia and designated Chris Paddack for assignment.
