The only thing better than the storylines was the game itself.
Hendricken hosted Pilgrim in Division I boys lacrosse in a game that mattered as much in the standings as it did for city bragging rights. The teams put on a show, with the Patriots holding a lead late in the fourth quarter until Tristan Andrews came up with the tying goal and Richard Sousa found the back of the net in overtime to give the Hawks an needed 11-10 win.
Goals were tough to come by in the first half, which ended with Hendricken up 5-4. Pilgrim found a flow in the third quarter, led by the defensive play from Declan Bragg and the offensive firepower provided by three goals from Marcus Walsh. The Patriots led by one until Will Kornacki scored with 39 seconds left to send the game to the fourth quarter tied.
Scoring slowed in the fourth, but Pilgrim took a 10-9 edge off a rip from Brett Taylor with 3:37 left to play. The Patriots won the faceoff and tried to kill off the clock, but a missed shot and gave Hendricken the ball back. The Hawks missed a shot with 1:35 left to play, hustled to the backline first, and Andrews made sure they didn’t miss again, scoring to tie things up with 1:24 left in the quarter.
Overtime was decided in the faceoff circle, as Brady Archambault came up with the win for Hendricken. The Hawks called a timeout and set up their offense. They showed extreme patience, waiting for the right looks and matchups. Sousa got the ball in a matchup he liked, made a charge at the net and slipped it into the right side for the game-winner before being mobbed by teammates.
Kornacki led Hendricken with five goals. Sousa and Karlton Lough both had two and Dom Vacca and Andrews had one apiece. The Hawks get back to .500 with the win at 4-4, are currently fifth in the Division I RPI standings and return to action on Wednesday, May 6, with a big home game against third-place Barrington.
Walsh led Pilgrim with four goals and Taylor scored three times. Connor Fitzgerald scored two goals and Logan Fuller had one. The Patriots drop to 6-4 on the season but remain fourth in the Division I RPI standings. Pilgrim returns to play Monday, May 4, at the Bend Street Fields when it hosts North Kingstown.
The Falcons scored twice in the first inning, and liked it so much, they did the same thing in the second and third to outdistance the visiting Clippers and provided Nick DiLorenzo with all the offense he'd need to earn the win.
Elan Santana led the hit parade, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and pair of RBIs. Christopher Barboza drove in two, as well, and D Milano drove in another.
On the mound, DiLorenzo struck out six and allowed one earned run, while scattering nine hits in a complete-game effort.
Four Cumberland batters notched a pair of hits – Chase Austin, Ryan Harris, Micah Cousineau and Nathan Goodrich, but bringing them in was another matter entirely.
Paxton Chenevert took the loss after fanning seven through five innings.
There wasn't much separation between the Rebels and Sentinels in Friday afternoon's game at at Old Mountain Field.
The score was 1-0 in favor of Smithfield by the time the sixth inning arrived – the result of a wild pitch that brought home Jacob Sylvester back in the third.
Luke Palmieri reached on a bunt single with one out in the home half of the sixth. Two batters later, Nick Vellone doubled to left to plate Palmieri to even the score. Brayden Rosen followed with a double of his own to bring home Vellone and give SK the lead.
Jackson Reilly came on in relief of SK starter ColeRosen (six strikeouts, four hits over six innings) and nailed down the win, with the final out coming by snuffing out a stolen-base attempt.
Vellone led the Rebels by going 3-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
Smithfield's Wyatt Speakman was 2-for-3 in the loss and starting pitcher Jackson Chamberlin suffered the hard-luck loss after striking out seven over six innings.
The Knights put up four runs in the third and added another in the fifth, but the Saints were just warming up.
In the fifth, a sac fly and a triple brought home three runs for the Saints and, in the sixth, three more runs scored to take the lead, thanks in part by a walk to Onassis Soriano, followed by two errors.
Jacob Barry led St. Raphael by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Soriano scored twice.
St. Raphael reliever CarlosSmith earned the win after tossing two scoreless frames, and allowing just one hit at Fairlawn Veterans Park.
In a game in which the lead changed hands several times, Division II Middletown scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and walked away with a victory over Aquidneck Island neighbor Portsmouth, of Division I.
Middletown, though outhit by Patriots (10 to 9), were led by Cameron Carlisle as he went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in. Michael Lisella contributed t5o the victory with two hits.
The also took advantage of eight walks they received with Colin Agren drawing three of them.
Avery Amaio had three RBI for Portsmouth in the loss.
The Tigers plated four runs in the home half of the seventh, but their comeback attempt fell two runs shy as the Scarlet Knights held on for the road win.
Tyler Medeiros paced Exeter-West Greenwich, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Logan Dadona was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Dylan Main was 1-for-2 with two runs score and one driven in.
Medeiros also closed the door on Tiverton's comeback attempt, coming in with two outs in the seventh and striking out the final batter to end it.
James Conley went 3-for-4 for Tiverton, with an RBI, Sean Whalen was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and Jacob Chouinard was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
AngelPolanco earned the win in this mercy-rule shortened contest by striking out an impressive 17 batters in just five innings – meaning every out recorded by Juanita Sanchez came via strikeout. (Two third strikes were dropped, and the runners reached base.)
The Cavaliers scored 11 runs in the first inning, taking advantage of some sloppy fielding, walks, and timely hits by Henry Trinidad and Matthew Santos.
Sebastian Affonso led the Cavs in hits, with two, including two runs scored and an RBI; Justin Gonzalez scored four times and drove in a pair, and Dariel Lopez scored twice with two RBIs.
Victor Pizarro paced the Eagles with a pair of RBIs, and lead-off batter John Cruz was 1-for-2 with three runs scored in the loss.
Gretchen Dombeck dominated in the circle and Skylar Hawes carried the offense in the Patriots’ 6-0 win over Kent County.
Dombeck had it working early and after getting herself out of a self-imposed jam in the third inning, made sure Division-II Kent County wasn’t going to score any runs. Dombeck threw a complete-game three-hitter, walking one batter and striking out one.
Pilgrim got on the board in the fourth on a two-run double by Hawes. The Patriots put up four more in the sixth, sparked by a two-run home run by Hawes, who finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Natalie Fratus came through an RBI double in that sixth inning. Madison Tuirok scored twice for Pilgrim and Addison Dempsey had two hits and one RBI in the win.
Sophia Moreira had two hits in the loss for Kent County.
Frankie Smith and Kelsea Flaherty came up with clutch hits in the fourth inning and Megan Gardiner came through big in a relief appearance in the Crusaders’ 4-2 win over the Rebels.
South Kingstown, which plays in Division II, scored runs in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead, but Prout got it all back and thensome in the fourth. Smith came up with a one-out double that scored two runs to tie the game before Flaherty brought her home with a double and she later scored on an error.
Gardiner made sure the score didn’t change. She took over for starter Lily Sheehan in the fourth and three four no-hit innings, striking out five to pick up the win.
Erica Kostrides was solid in the circle for SK and struck out three batters in the loss.
Payton Baris broke up a tie ballgame in the sixth inning and Kelsey Knutton finished off a roller-coaster ride of a start in the 5-3 win over the Saints.
An RBI double by Mary McGovern and an error led to two Coventry runs in the first before McGovern’s solo home run made it 3-0 after the top of the third. St. Raphael answered with an RBI double by Sophie Roman in the bottom of the third, then got RBI singles by Ava Guatieri and Makayla McDermott to tie the game after four.
McGovern got the Oakers’ rally going in the sixth with a leadoff double and Baris drove home the run two batters later before scoring on an error.
Knutton got through the final two innings to secure the win. She threw all seven innings, spreading out nine hits and one walk while giving up two earned runs and striking out eight.
McGovern finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs in the win. McDermott went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run for St. Raphael and Roman finished 2-for-4 with one RBI.
The Bulldogs got the hit parade going and Frankie Arnold put an exclamation point on the win with a three-run home run in the 9-4 victory over the Townies.
Tied at three heading to the bottom of the fourth, Westerly got runs off RBI singles by Ella Keegan and Addison Poole. East Providence got one back in the top of the fifth, but the Bulldogs put up four in the bottom of the sixth, with three coming on an Arnold home run.
Arnold had a beast of a day, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Keegan finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run and Pool was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs.
Aubrey Bernard finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run for East Providence. Maura Roche had two hits and scored once in the loss.
Trailing by five heading to the seventh, the Huskies rallied for six runs to beat the Patriots, 15-14, and earn their first win of the season.
Big days from the fearsome foresome atop the Davies order had Mt. Hope headed for defeat down 14-9 through six innings. But in the Huskies’ final at-bats, the Patriots’ defense fell apart and allowed four quick runs to score.
With two runners on, Rachel Castigliego hit a line drive that was misplayed and led to the tying and go-ahead run. Madison Andrews came out for the seventh and got two quick outs, then put two runners on base before getting a fielder’s choice to end the game.
Macie Comeau had four RBI and two runs for Mt. Hope. Hailey Ferreira and Giuliana Grifka both scored three times and Jaelyn Couto and Castigliego both scored twice in the win.
Davies was led by Darelyn Maldonado, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Brooke Barnes finished 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs and Maci Linton went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Kylie Robert had two hits and scored twice in the loss.
Laurel Christian and Camryn Bishop paced a potent offensive attack that led Pawtucket to a 20-0 win over the Eagles.
Pawtucket led 7-0 heading to the third before piling on 13 runs, bringing the 15-run rule onto play. Christian was a beast, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs and Bishop was just as good, as she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Shia Sanchez and Genesis Morales both drove in three runs and Taylor Kane scored four times in the win.
Sara Poland and Morgan DiManno both hit home runs as the Tigers beat the Warrior Pride, 16-1.
Tiverton scored four times in the first inning – two on a triple by Poland – and then went off for 10 in the second, including the home runs from Poland and DiManno. The Tigers walked off with the win on an RBI double by Brooke Sowa that brought the 15-run rule into play.
Poland finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs. DiManno had four RBI and two runs and Sowa went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
LC Collins had the lone hit for Central Falls.
The Islanders scored 11 runs on the first inning and made quick work of the Cavaliers in an 18-3 win.
Juanita Sanchez struck first, but Middletown struck back in a big way to go up 11-1 after the first inning. They scored seven more in the second before the 15-run rule took effect after the top of the third.
Delaney King led the Islanders, going 3-for-3 with three Rbi and three runs. Evangeline Gross and Finley Berard both went 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI and Charlotte Miller scored three times. Skyler Vilardo had a nice afternoon as well, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Keasia Mulbah went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run in the loss for the Cavaliers.
The Vikings scored in every inning and Lila Leys threw an abbreviated no-hitter in a 14-3 win over the Scarlet Knights.
Rogers gave Leys a three-run lead after the top of the first, but the Vikings defense gave it right back as EWG scored three times to tie the score. The lead didn’t last long, as Rogers scored three times in the second, third and fifth innings while getting two in the fourth.
Leys took over the game after the first inning and finished with an impressive line, throwing five no-hit innings while giving up one earned run with four walks and 14 strikeouts.
Tess Margolis had a big day for the offense, going 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Norah Gardullo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs and Jazelle Ramos, Emma Brown and Leys both had two hits and scored twice in the win.
Jagger Viens and Xander Viens kept the Skippers offense going all afternoon as they held on to take down the Rebels, 13-11.
The Viens brothers took the reins of North Kingstown’s offense early, with both scoring three goals apiece in the first half to build a 6-4 lead over SK. In the third quarter, the Skippers then scored four unanswered goals to build a comfortable 10-4 lead before the Rebels closed the quarter with a pair to make it a four-goal game.
NK made it a five-goal lead early in the fourth and while South got the deficit down to three, it couldn’t get over the hump.
Xander Viens led the Skippers with five goals and Jagger Viens scored three times. Lawson Belford put two in the net and Connor Leach, Cole Kizzee and Carter Photopoulos added one goal apiece. John Green made 14 saves in the win.
Blake Riley led South Kingstown with six goals and Mason Thorn and Johnathan Hand scored two goals apiece with Michael Schafer getting the other tally. Thomas Bowse had 15 saves in the loss.
The Crusaders arrived late but that didn’t slow them down a bit, as three first-quarter goals set the tone in a 9-1 win over the Falcons.
Traffic led to a late arrival, but Prout wasted little time in getting goals on the board. John Gaffney scored the first 2:30 into the game and added a third, with Ethan Nestor scoring his first career varsity goal between the two to make it 3-0 after the first quarter.
The Crusaders controlled possession and never let Cranston West do much when it had the ball on its offensive end. Prout led 6-1 at halftime and had little issue finishing things out.
Gaffney led the Crusaders with four goals and fellow senior Christos Stefanapolous scored three times. Nester and Maddox Keramidas had the other scores, with both coming in the first half.
Cameron MacLeod had the lone goal for Cranston West.
It was a game to remember for Ben Browne, who paced the Huskies with three goals, the second of which marked his 100th career score. He also recorded an assist in the win.
Nathan Carpenter had three goals and a pair of assists, and three Huskies recorded a pair of goals in the win – Aedan Nelson, Aidan Pereira and Brayden Vales.
In net, Ethan LaBollita made five saves and Rocco Fratterelli made one for Mt. Hope. Toll Gate's Seamus Corrado had nine saves in the loss.
Division IV
North Providence 16, Tiverton 0
The Avengers got off to a slow start, but Ava Halvorsen and Tessa Charello-Ingegneri took over the game in the second quarter and rolled the dominance into the third in a 19-14 win over the Skippers.
NK played with purpose in the first quarter, as two goals each from Evelyn Dillon and Emily Clow had the Skippers up 8-3. It was all East Greenwich after that, as Halvorsen and Charello-Ingegneri combined for six of the team’s eight goals that put them up 12-10 at halftime.
The scoring didn’t stop there, as Halvorsen scored four times in the third quarter, giving the Avengers a lead they wouldn’t come close to surrendering.
Halvorsen put up a number, scoring nine goals to lead EG. Charello-Ingegneri came through with six and Courtney Cavanaugh scored two. Frances Hershberger and Charleigh Barone had the other scores.
Mya Macchioni led North Kingstown with four goals. Clow finished with three and Dillon, Finola Gately and Natalie Rongles scored two apiece. Lana DesRoches had the other score for the Skippers.
Goals came fast and furious, but the Huskies were able to get just enough to hold on to upset the Townies, 14-13.
Mt. Hope’s balanced offensive attack proved to be a difference-maker. The Huskies got three goals apiece from Madison Butterworth and Grace Zamil and two goals each from Lorelai Blanchard, Catherine Frawley and Sophia Santoro. The other two scores came from Miley Boucher and Aubrey Cummings.
East Providence star Alyssa Karalekas did some heavy lifting, scoring eight goals in the loss. Nadiyah Calouro-Vargas and Sydney Olson both scored twice for the Townies and Penelope Flynn had one as well.
Mt. Hopegot a combined nine saves from goalies Cella Albritton and Nadia Albritton and East Providence’s Grace O’Neil made nine in the loss.
The Division IV Spartans collected their third straight victory with a win over the D-III Chieftains.
Both team captains, Amy Glass and Grace Jacavone were instrumental in the win. Glass scored three goals and had two assists and Jacavone added two goals. Also figuring in the win were Julianna Pimental and Riley Brooks with a goal each.
Melanie Brown, Katelyn Damiano and Lana Hess scored a goal apiece in the loss for the Chieftains.
Stella Kraus, Delanie Wheeler and Jenna White each netted three goals for the Titans, while Aubrery Rubeira and Madison Gautieri each scored two. Olivia Napolitano made four saves in net for Toll Gate.
Dorothy Karl scored all four goals for Bay View in the loss.
Division II
Cranston West vs. Pilgrim (no score reported)
Rainen Paquet and Cam Gates had the Avengers’ offense rolling in a 25-23, 25-21, 28-26 sweep of the Oakers.
Paquet was a perfect floor general for East Greenwich and wasn’t afraid to go to Gates for big swings. Paquet finished with 33 assists – getting four kills of his own – and Gates had 13 kills and six aces in the win.
Cameron Marcotte played well in the loss for Coventry, getting 15 kills. Zack Rzemien had 30 assists for the Oakers.
Ziair Colome and Cooper Markley were too big at the net, dominating in Pawtucket’s 25-18, 25-21, 28-30, 25-21 win over North Smithfield.
Colome and Markley were Pawtucket’s go-to hitters, with Colome leading the team with 13 kills and Markley coming up with 11 of his own. Setter Myles Carter dished out 33 assists in the win.
Nobody messes with the Zoltan, as the Patriots found out as Zoltan Libertini and the Scarlet Knights came away with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 win over their Division II foes.
Libertini was the star for EWG, finishing with nine kills and five blocks. Connor McCall had 10 kills in the loss for the Pilgrim.

In a game in which the lead changed hands several times, Division II Middletown scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and walked away with a victory over Aquidneck Island neighbor Portsmouth, of Division I.
Middletown, though outhit by Patriots (10 to 9), were led by Cameron Carlisle as he went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in. Michael Lisella contributed t5o the victory with two hits.
The also took advantage of eight walks they received with Colin Agren drawing three of them.
Avery Amaio had three RBI for Portsmouth in the loss.

EWG 8, Tiverton 6
The Tigers plated four runs in the home half of the seventh, but their comeback attempt fell two runs shy as the Scarlet Knights held on for the road win.
Tyler Medeiros paced Exeter-West Greenwich, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Logan Dadona was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Dylan Main was 1-for-2 with two runs score and one driven in.
Medeiros also closed the door on Tiverton's comeback attempt, coming in with two outs in the seventh and striking out the final batter to end it.
James Conley went 3-for-4 for Tiverton, with an RBI, Sean Whalen was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and Jacob Chouinard was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Juanita Sanchez 19, Times2 4
AngelPolanco earned the win in this mercy-rule shortened contest by striking out an impressive 17 batters in just five innings – meaning every out recorded by Juanita Sanchez came via strikeout. (Two third strikes were dropped, and the runners reached base.)
The Cavaliers scored 11 runs in the first inning, taking advantage of some sloppy fielding, walks, and timely hits by Henry Trinidad and Matthew Santos.
Sebastian Affonso led the Cavs in hits, with two, including two runs scored and an RBI; Justin Gonzalez scored four times and drove in a pair, and Dariel Lopez scored twice with two RBIs.
Victor Pizarro paced the Eagles with a pair of RBIs, and lead-off batter John Cruz was 1-for-2 with three runs scored in the loss.
SOFTBALL – Division II

Pilgrim 6, Kent County 0
Gretchen Dombeck dominated in the circle and Skylar Hawes carried the offense in the Patriots’ 6-0 win over Kent County.
Dombeck had it working early and after getting herself out of a self-imposed jam in the third inning, made sure Division-II Kent County wasn’t going to score any runs. Dombeck threw a complete-game three-hitter, walking one batter and striking out one.
Pilgrim got on the board in the fourth on a two-run double by Hawes. The Patriots put up four more in the sixth, sparked by a two-run home run by Hawes, who finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Natalie Fratus came through an RBI double in that sixth inning. Madison Tuirok scored twice for Pilgrim and Addison Dempsey had two hits and one RBI in the win.
Sophia Moreira had two hits in the loss for Kent County.
Prout 4, South Kingstown 2
Frankie Smith and Kelsea Flaherty came up with clutch hits in the fourth inning and Megan Gardiner came through big in a relief appearance in the Crusaders’ 4-2 win over the Rebels.
South Kingstown, which plays in Division II, scored runs in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead, but Prout got it all back and thensome in the fourth. Smith came up with a one-out double that scored two runs to tie the game before Flaherty brought her home with a double and she later scored on an error.
Gardiner made sure the score didn’t change. She took over for starter Lily Sheehan in the fourth and three four no-hit innings, striking out five to pick up the win.
Erica Kostrides was solid in the circle for SK and struck out three batters in the loss.
Coventry 5, St. Raphael 3
Payton Baris broke up a tie ballgame in the sixth inning and Kelsey Knutton finished off a roller-coaster ride of a start in the 5-3 win over the Saints.
An RBI double by Mary McGovern and an error led to two Coventry runs in the first before McGovern’s solo home run made it 3-0 after the top of the third. St. Raphael answered with an RBI double by Sophie Roman in the bottom of the third, then got RBI singles by Ava Guatieri and Makayla McDermott to tie the game after four.
McGovern got the Oakers’ rally going in the sixth with a leadoff double and Baris drove home the run two batters later before scoring on an error.
Knutton got through the final two innings to secure the win. She threw all seven innings, spreading out nine hits and one walk while giving up two earned runs and striking out eight.
McGovern finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs in the win. McDermott went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run for St. Raphael and Roman finished 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Westerly 9, East Providence 4
The Bulldogs got the hit parade going and Frankie Arnold put an exclamation point on the win with a three-run home run in the 9-4 victory over the Townies.
Tied at three heading to the bottom of the fourth, Westerly got runs off RBI singles by Ella Keegan and Addison Poole. East Providence got one back in the top of the fifth, but the Bulldogs put up four in the bottom of the sixth, with three coming on an Arnold home run.
Arnold had a beast of a day, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Keegan finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run and Pool was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs.
Aubrey Bernard finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run for East Providence. Maura Roche had two hits and scored once in the loss.
SOFTBALL – Division II
Mt. Hope 15, Davies 14
Trailing by five heading to the seventh, the Huskies rallied for six runs to beat the Patriots, 15-14, and earn their first win of the season.
Big days from the fearsome foresome atop the Davies order had Mt. Hope headed for defeat down 14-9 through six innings. But in the Huskies’ final at-bats, the Patriots’ defense fell apart and allowed four quick runs to score.
With two runners on, Rachel Castigliego hit a line drive that was misplayed and led to the tying and go-ahead run. Madison Andrews came out for the seventh and got two quick outs, then put two runners on base before getting a fielder’s choice to end the game.
Macie Comeau had four RBI and two runs for Mt. Hope. Hailey Ferreira and Giuliana Grifka both scored three times and Jaelyn Couto and Castigliego both scored twice in the win.
Davies was led by Darelyn Maldonado, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Brooke Barnes finished 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs and Maci Linton went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Kylie Robert had two hits and scored twice in the loss.
SOFTBALL – Division III

Pawtucket 20, Times2 0
Laurel Christian and Camryn Bishop paced a potent offensive attack that led Pawtucket to a 20-0 win over the Eagles.
Pawtucket led 7-0 heading to the third before piling on 13 runs, bringing the 15-run rule onto play. Christian was a beast, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs and Bishop was just as good, as she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Shia Sanchez and Genesis Morales both drove in three runs and Taylor Kane scored four times in the win.
Tiverton 16, BVPCF 1
Sara Poland and Morgan DiManno both hit home runs as the Tigers beat the Warrior Pride, 16-1.
Tiverton scored four times in the first inning – two on a triple by Poland – and then went off for 10 in the second, including the home runs from Poland and DiManno. The Tigers walked off with the win on an RBI double by Brooke Sowa that brought the 15-run rule into play.
Poland finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs. DiManno had four RBI and two runs and Sowa went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
LC Collins had the lone hit for Central Falls.
Middletown 18, Juanita Sanchez 3
The Islanders scored 11 runs on the first inning and made quick work of the Cavaliers in an 18-3 win.
Juanita Sanchez struck first, but Middletown struck back in a big way to go up 11-1 after the first inning. They scored seven more in the second before the 15-run rule took effect after the top of the third.
Delaney King led the Islanders, going 3-for-3 with three Rbi and three runs. Evangeline Gross and Finley Berard both went 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI and Charlotte Miller scored three times. Skyler Vilardo had a nice afternoon as well, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Keasia Mulbah went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run in the loss for the Cavaliers.

Rogers 14, EWG 3
The Vikings scored in every inning and Lila Leys threw an abbreviated no-hitter in a 14-3 win over the Scarlet Knights.
Rogers gave Leys a three-run lead after the top of the first, but the Vikings defense gave it right back as EWG scored three times to tie the score. The lead didn’t last long, as Rogers scored three times in the second, third and fifth innings while getting two in the fourth.
Leys took over the game after the first inning and finished with an impressive line, throwing five no-hit innings while giving up one earned run with four walks and 14 strikeouts.
Tess Margolis had a big day for the offense, going 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Norah Gardullo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs and Jazelle Ramos, Emma Brown and Leys both had two hits and scored twice in the win.
BOYS LACROSSE – Division I
North Kingstown 13, South Kingstown 11
Jagger Viens and Xander Viens kept the Skippers offense going all afternoon as they held on to take down the Rebels, 13-11.
The Viens brothers took the reins of North Kingstown’s offense early, with both scoring three goals apiece in the first half to build a 6-4 lead over SK. In the third quarter, the Skippers then scored four unanswered goals to build a comfortable 10-4 lead before the Rebels closed the quarter with a pair to make it a four-goal game.
NK made it a five-goal lead early in the fourth and while South got the deficit down to three, it couldn’t get over the hump.
Xander Viens led the Skippers with five goals and Jagger Viens scored three times. Lawson Belford put two in the net and Connor Leach, Cole Kizzee and Carter Photopoulos added one goal apiece. John Green made 14 saves in the win.
Blake Riley led South Kingstown with six goals and Mason Thorn and Johnathan Hand scored two goals apiece with Michael Schafer getting the other tally. Thomas Bowse had 15 saves in the loss.
BOYS LACROSSE – Division II
Prout 9, Cranston West 1
The Crusaders arrived late but that didn’t slow them down a bit, as three first-quarter goals set the tone in a 9-1 win over the Falcons.
Traffic led to a late arrival, but Prout wasted little time in getting goals on the board. John Gaffney scored the first 2:30 into the game and added a third, with Ethan Nestor scoring his first career varsity goal between the two to make it 3-0 after the first quarter.
The Crusaders controlled possession and never let Cranston West do much when it had the ball on its offensive end. Prout led 6-1 at halftime and had little issue finishing things out.
Gaffney led the Crusaders with four goals and fellow senior Christos Stefanapolous scored three times. Nester and Maddox Keramidas had the other scores, with both coming in the first half.
Cameron MacLeod had the lone goal for Cranston West.

Mt. Hope 16, Toll Gate 0
It was a game to remember for Ben Browne, who paced the Huskies with three goals, the second of which marked his 100th career score. He also recorded an assist in the win.
Nathan Carpenter had three goals and a pair of assists, and three Huskies recorded a pair of goals in the win – Aedan Nelson, Aidan Pereira and Brayden Vales.
In net, Ethan LaBollita made five saves and Rocco Fratterelli made one for Mt. Hope. Toll Gate's Seamus Corrado had nine saves in the loss.

East Greenwich 19, NK 14
The Avengers got off to a slow start, but Ava Halvorsen and Tessa Charello-Ingegneri took over the game in the second quarter and rolled the dominance into the third in a 19-14 win over the Skippers.
NK played with purpose in the first quarter, as two goals each from Evelyn Dillon and Emily Clow had the Skippers up 8-3. It was all East Greenwich after that, as Halvorsen and Charello-Ingegneri combined for six of the team’s eight goals that put them up 12-10 at halftime.
The scoring didn’t stop there, as Halvorsen scored four times in the third quarter, giving the Avengers a lead they wouldn’t come close to surrendering.
Halvorsen put up a number, scoring nine goals to lead EG. Charello-Ingegneri came through with six and Courtney Cavanaugh scored two. Frances Hershberger and Charleigh Barone had the other scores.
Mya Macchioni led North Kingstown with four goals. Clow finished with three and Dillon, Finola Gately and Natalie Rongles scored two apiece. Lana DesRoches had the other score for the Skippers.
GIRLS LACROSSE – Division II
Mt. Hope 14, EP 13
Goals came fast and furious, but the Huskies were able to get just enough to hold on to upset the Townies, 14-13.
Mt. Hope’s balanced offensive attack proved to be a difference-maker. The Huskies got three goals apiece from Madison Butterworth and Grace Zamil and two goals each from Lorelai Blanchard, Catherine Frawley and Sophia Santoro. The other two scores came from Miley Boucher and Aubrey Cummings.
East Providence star Alyssa Karalekas did some heavy lifting, scoring eight goals in the loss. Nadiyah Calouro-Vargas and Sydney Olson both scored twice for the Townies and Penelope Flynn had one as well.
Mt. Hopegot a combined nine saves from goalies Cella Albritton and Nadia Albritton and East Providence’s Grace O’Neil made nine in the loss.
GIRLS LACROSSE – Division III
Scituate 7, Ponaganset 3
The Division IV Spartans collected their third straight victory with a win over the D-III Chieftains.
Both team captains, Amy Glass and Grace Jacavone were instrumental in the win. Glass scored three goals and had two assists and Jacavone added two goals. Also figuring in the win were Julianna Pimental and Riley Brooks with a goal each.
Melanie Brown, Katelyn Damiano and Lana Hess scored a goal apiece in the loss for the Chieftains.
Toll Gate 13, Bay View 4
Stella Kraus, Delanie Wheeler and Jenna White each netted three goals for the Titans, while Aubrery Rubeira and Madison Gautieri each scored two. Olivia Napolitano made four saves in net for Toll Gate.
Dorothy Karl scored all four goals for Bay View in the loss.

Rainen Paquet and Cam Gates had the Avengers’ offense rolling in a 25-23, 25-21, 28-26 sweep of the Oakers.
Paquet was a perfect floor general for East Greenwich and wasn’t afraid to go to Gates for big swings. Paquet finished with 33 assists – getting four kills of his own – and Gates had 13 kills and six aces in the win.
Cameron Marcotte played well in the loss for Coventry, getting 15 kills. Zack Rzemien had 30 assists for the Oakers.
Pawtucket 3, North Smithfield 1
Ziair Colome and Cooper Markley were too big at the net, dominating in Pawtucket’s 25-18, 25-21, 28-30, 25-21 win over North Smithfield.
Colome and Markley were Pawtucket’s go-to hitters, with Colome leading the team with 13 kills and Markley coming up with 11 of his own. Setter Myles Carter dished out 33 assists in the win.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL – Division II
EWG 3, Pilgrim 0
Nobody messes with the Zoltan, as the Patriots found out as Zoltan Libertini and the Scarlet Knights came away with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 win over their Division II foes.
Libertini was the star for EWG, finishing with nine kills and five blocks. Connor McCall had 10 kills in the loss for the Pilgrim.
