Portsmouth scored 11 runs in the first inning, then to make matters worse for Mt. Hope, the Patriots finished their scoring with eight more runs in the second inning and rolled to victory over the Huskies in one of the few games played on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.
Lynn Rainey led the Portsmouth offense with two hits, including a grand slam with five runs batted in. Evelyn Schmidt and Kylie Turner also contributed to the win with two hits each.
Teddy Gersen scored 5 goals, including the 50th of his high school career, and teammates Colby Nixon tallied 4 times, Max Harvey put together a hattrick and Luke Brandariz scored twice as the DII Patriots frolicked in the rain and upended the D-III TG/EWG Coop in a crossover battle.
Nicholas Woods had the lone goal for Toll Gate in the loss.

Casey Macera scored 6 goals and Gianna Falcone scored 4 goals and set up 5 more in the Bulldogs' blowout victory over the Rebels.
Other Westerly players who found their way in the scoring column are Ella Seltzer with 3 goals and 1 assist, Macy Antoch who scored twice and added an assist and Phoebe Brennan and Jennna Parker with a goal apiece.
For SK, Stello Capizzo had 2 goals and Alarie Dawe added 1 more goal in the loss.
Annabella Lally and Lexi Johnson-McNahon each scored three goals, Grace Young and Chloe Albaret scored twice and Gracie Nenunas, Lily Goodrich, Emma Tutken, and Kaela Mechler each found the back of the night once.
Rian Boynes had five saves for the Sentinels.
Talulah Laterella had two goals for the Patriots and netminder Zoe Anderson recorded 12 saves in the loss.
Division II
Narragansett 14, Rogers 4
Sparked by the play of Bryan Leon (11 kills, 2 aces, 15 digs and 1 block), Cooper Markley (11 kills, 1 ace, 8 digs and 5 blocks) and Myles Carter (2 kills, 3 aces, 40 assists, 7 digs and 1 block), the Pawtucket Co-op outlasted Lincoln, 25-22, 25-23, 25-27, 16-25, 21-19.
Donovan Park recorded 11 kills, six digs and an ace and teammate Calvin Oberacker was good for seven kills 10 aces and seven digs as the Eagles defeated the Knights, 25-18, 25-13, 25-16.
Alex Osmena led the Wizards with 11 kills, 12 digs and three aces, Santi Saucedo recorded 37 digs and six aces, and Ethan Pereira had 10 kills 13 digs and seven aces in the win,
For the Cavaliers, Lucas Martins recorded five kills and eight aces in the loss.
Yeoman efforts by both Henry Kenyon (11 kills, 5 blocks, 3 aces, 2 assists and 2 digs) and Grady Auth (2 kills, 2 blocks 5 aces, 19 assists 4 digs) paved the way for the Bulldogs win (25-10, 25-8, 25-6) over Johnston.
