Amelia Fries opened the game with a bang and the Skippers’ offense put on a show in an 8-2 Division I win over the Patriots.
A sophomore slump may be out of the question for Fries, a Second Team All-State pick as a freshman who opened the game in a big way with a solo home run to give North Kingstown an early lead.
Pilgrim tied the game at two in the bottom of the third inning on a home run from All-Stater Skylar Hawes. The Skippers responded quick, getting a run on a Patriots’ error that Fries followed with an RBI single. Another Pilgrim error led to two more runs and NK added two more runs before the game ended.
Gianna Amedeo threw a great game for the Skippers, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out four. Fries led the offense, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Gabby Peralta had three RBI in the win and Mia D’Andrea scored a pair of runs.
Hawes provided the pop for Pilgrim and Natalie Fratus scored the other run.
La Salle continued its strong early-season play, striking early and often against the Patriots. David Cavalloro's RBI single followed by a productive groundout by Adryan Urena to bring home another run gave the Rams a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
In the second, Josh Santana drove home another run and a groundout by Bronx Discullio extended La Salle's lead to 4-0.
On the mound, Cameron Caprio threw six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven and walking one to earn the win.
Pilgrim starter Anthony DeLuca took the loss after battling through 3.1 innings.
Five La Salle batters recorded a hit in the win, while DeLuca and Kyle Rezendes each had a hit for Pilgrim in the loss.
Neither team was charged with an error.
Townies sophomore JJ Renaud thrilled the home crowd by pitching a no-hitter against the Patriots. Gavin Palombo led East Providence with two hits in two at bats and stole two bases. Ben Hallene had one hit in three at-bats and drove in two of the Townies’ runs.Tyler Doucet took the loss for Portsmouth. The starter went four innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking one.

Tessa Charello scored a game-high eight goals, Ava Halvarsen added seven, and Lindsay Rowe had three. Goalie Ella Mercurio made three saves in the victory.
For the Chargers, Aubrey Currier scored five times, and Kayden Jaillet added four. Goalie Ava Laird made three saves in the loss.
Senior captain Lily Peters led the Rams to the overwhelming victory on their home field with four goals and an assist. Teammate Ellsie Freitas contributed three goals and an assist. Goalkeeper and captain Peyton Giroux made eight saves.
The Division II Broncos (2-) used a balanced scoring attack and strong defense to topple the Crusaders in this crossover clash. Casey Macera led the way with four goals, with Gianna Falcone, Ella Seltzer and Macy Antoch each netting a pair of goals, and Phoebe Brennan adding another.
For Division I Prout, Pilar Murphy scored four goals, with Elizabeth Hill and Bridget Baney each adding one more.
Grace Young scored five goals and teammate Annabelle Lally was good for four more as the Sentinels blanked the Townies. Also contributing to the victory were Emma Tutken, who scored twice and Lexi-Johnson-McMahon who added1 goal.
Smithfield netminder Rian Boyness earned the shutout with seven saves.
East Providence goalies Brooke O'Donnell and Grace O'Neil combined for a total of 14 saves in the loss.

Ian Nascimento had 12 kills and two blocks and Caden Pina recorded eight kills and two aces for Classical in the loss.
Cam Gates led the Avengers with a game-high 17 kills and Rainen Paquet added 31 assists in the win (23-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-15).
For the Chargers, Reid McCann had 10 kills and Kasey Poplaski had 20 assists in the loss.
Cooper Markley led the Tigers to a dominating shutout (25-21, 25-9, 25-19) on the road with seven kills and five aces. Teammate Bryan Leon contributed six kills and nine digs.Connor McColl tallied six kills and two aces for the Patriots.
Henry Kenyon recorded 14 kills, five blocks, six digs and an assist and teammate Grady Auth had three kills, six blocks, three aces and 15 assists to help lift the Bulldogs to victory over the Huskies.
For Mt. Hope in the loss, Dylan Shaw had 2 aces, 9 kills and 8 digs and Dylan DeOliveira posted 2 aces, 9 digs and 19 assists.
