The NBA offseason has been an exciting one to this point, with major moments such as LeBron James joining the Philadelphia 76ers and several blockbuster trades shaking up the league. With the offseason continuing to unfold, several veterans are still on the market looking for new homes as they enter the later stages of their careers.

One veteran still weighing his options is DeMar DeRozan. The 17-year veteran was waived by the Sacramento Kings two months ago, making him one of the more notable free agents still available.

“The Sacramento Kings have waived DeMar DeRozan, the team announced Monday, making the six-time All-Star one of the top free agents on the market. DeRozan had a partial guarantee on his contract for next season, but he and Sacramento worked on his release to allow him to find a new home. Multiple contenders are expected to have interest in the veteran guard," ESPN wrote.

One of the favorites to land DeRozan is the Miami Heat. The two sides have been connected for several years, and Miami continues to be viewed as a potential destination for the veteran scorer.

“Miami Heat have been a Derozan landing spot for years now, there's been so much connectivity between him and the Heat and I do think the Heat seem to be the most likely scenario for DeMar DeRozan right now…Miami is probably his best bet…those other spots really don't have spending power," The Stein Line's Jake Fischer said.

However, the Heat have plenty of competition for DeRozan. Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney reported that the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards are also possibilities for the veteran.

“DeRozan got a buyout from the Kings, but has not picked his next destination yet. The Wizards (?) are the latest contender, but he is a possibility for Golden State, Miami, Cleveland, or a dark horse, as well,” Deveney wrote.

Whichever team ultimately lands DeRozan would be adding a proven scorer with plenty of playoff and All-Star experience. The future Hall of Famer is looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a championship-contending team.

The biggest question may be whether DeRozan is willing to accept a reduced role. If he wants to join one of the league's top contenders, he may have to accept the possibility of coming off the bench rather than serving as a full-time starter.

DeRozan has earned $305 million in contracts throughout his career, and he has spent much of his career as a featured offensive option. Coming off the bench has never been a significant part of his role. However, at this stage of his career, he may have to make that adjustment if he wants to maximize his chances of joining a championship-caliber team.
