COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – Heartland Christian pulled away from Valley Christian 61-31 in an early battle of unbeatens during high school boys basketball action on Saturday night.
Early on, the Lions leaned on the defense and only allowed one field goal from the Eagles in the opening quarter. After leading 6-5 entering the second, Heartland Christian used a 14-2 run to take a 20-11 lead into halftime.
The Lions would go on to outscore the Eagles 41-20 in the second half.
Valley Christian falls to 4-1 after the first setback of the season. The Eagles will next travel to East Palestine on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
With the win, the Lions improve to 7-0 overall. They are scheduled to take on Lisbon in two weeks on Saturday, Jan. 3.
