I know we still have the draft and another wave of free agents with the June 1st roster cut, but have we made enough stride thusfar in free agency to think we have pulled up even to our 2 division rivals?

Last year we beat the pants off both of those teams and had a shot a beating the both of them TWICE! We lost to a Falcon team 6-3. A team that went on to the NFC Championship game.

One would think that if Warner can be just 75% of what he was( thats still twice as good as anybody we had last year), Boldin returning 100%, Fitzgerald with a year under his belt, and a running back to be named later is enough to get us to even, no? Thats not to mention a defense that is on the upswing with another top notch DE added to it.

You know what? I hope NOBODY recognizes the strides we;ve made . I hope everybody still sees us as the same ole Cards.

Theres a new Bird in town.....and soon everyone will know!

I think it's REALLY stretching things to say we "beat the pants" off those teams. The Rams had their 3rd string QB in there and instantly became better the second Bulger took over, so I don't really think that game is an indicator of anything and as far as the Seahawks game goes, we were losing that game in the 4th quarter before the ST blocked a punt and we got a pick and then scored to put us up 8 - hardly a beating.

Personally, I think we MAY have caught up with both, but I believe it all rests on Kurt Warner arm and fingers. If he's - like you say - even 75% of what he was - this team will contend for the division title - otherwise, I don't see it. The Hawks got the REALLY key guys back(and yes - Alexander will be back) and filled back some of their holes with decent guys. The Rams will still have a very good O - probably even better next year with Faulk's over the hill ass on the bench, but their D sucks, so we should be at least even with them.

I don't want to hear this BS, when the Cards lose you are all over them, anything we say is just excuses.

A team is what it is, if they get an old fashioned butt whipping because their back QBs suck, then so be it. They suck no excuses. The reason their backup QBs suck is that the HC has done a bad job of selecting them.

Nobody wants to hear how the Cardinbals lost because XXXX was injured and I could care less if the situation is reversed. Really good teams like NE find a way to suck it up and win, even with injuries. That is partly because they havn't been overpaying for one position, thus their depth is better. The Rams are overpaying, hence their depth sucks, this means if they are lucky and have no injuries then fine otherwise they suck. They decied to go that way, so that's how they should be judged.

I am not interested in hearing excuses for the Rams and how they shouldn't have lost to us. We whipped the realllllll good.

We were missing plenty of people when they beat us 17-10. Boldin, Shipp, and Hodgins could have made that 31-17. That offense is supposed to be plug and play anyway with the good QB production they get. Look at Warner and Bulger they have never been considered great but they get the ball to Holt and Bruce.

did I say they shouldn't have lost to us Nidan? The question was asked if we were as good as the Rams and considering that we don't know because we only played them ONCE with their starting QB(and one of the better QBs in the NFC) I'd say that win doesn't tell us much about how we match up with them going into next season.

If we had players the caliber of Pro-Bowl QBs get injured - then it would be okay to use the injury card - but considering(as you said I'm ALWAYS all over us when we lose - which is a complete and total combo of crap and living in yesteryear when I WAS all over us for sucking when we SUCKED) when I would get all over us - WE DIDN'T HAVE ANYONE OF THAT CALIBER - your argument is moot.

If the Rams went into the season with their Third-string QB, I'd say you had a point - but they're not - so you don't.

Sheesh 0 what crawled up your ass and died to attack me for my view of the world back in 2003 when I rightfully so ripped this team to shreds? That was a long time ago my friend and as the team has changed, so have I.

Warner was an two-time MVP until his hand got crushed and he lost his confidence. Bulger is a Pro-Bowler - every other QB in between for them has sucked ass - hardly what I'd call a "plug and play" offense. That O needs precision passing.

And James Hodgins?!

The Rams had no problem lauding the first win of the season over us when we didn't have Shipp or Q. And quite frankly, the Rams got out of jail in that game. A win is a win IMO.

The fact that we split with the Hawks and Rams with such production from our QB and RB is a very positive sign heading into this season.

We need to CRUSH the 49ers when we play them next though. Those loses are flat out embarassing.

I agree with everything you are saying and I think - like I said, if Warner's 75% of what he used to be - we will be a force to reckon with - I just think citing that game where we beat the piss out of the Rams should be put in context. That's all.

Warner still has it in him. There was a reason Green was calling him to sign.

Oh, I agree. Beating the Rams like that with Bulger would of been even more sweet.

But I will take giving the Rams an ass kicking like that any which way.

hey - we're the Cardinals - I'll take kicking ANYONE'S ass like that any which way - I just won't brag about it afterward - I won't stupe to another team's fans level - if they want to crow about a game where they almost lost to us - let 'em - just shows what losers they are.

We won't have caught them until we actually catch them--and finish ahead of them in the division. In my mind it's like NL East fans who dismiss the Braves at the beginning of each year.

I gotta say though, I like our chances

It is bad enough we struggle year in and year out for wins, but now we have one of our biggest fans making excuses as to why another team lost to us?? come on.... :D

Seriously, I see your point, but considering the first games close loss and the fact that we put up 31 points on them in the 2nd I would say it is fair -regardless of who was QB'ing the Rams- to say the Cardinals had "caught up" with them last year...or at the very least "had their number" The Cards should have been 2-0 against them last year but even so they at least proved they were as good!

Sorry, the 'excuses' issue just makes my blood boil.

Almost every commentator and nfl fan has a double standard, one for the Cardinals and one for every other team.

I really hope so but let's be honest, the last series of decisions Green made at QB weren't exactly very Nostradamus like. I can pass on Ben because Josh is going to be better, I can cut Blake because I'm going to sign Shaun King, John Navarre is ready to start. Of the 3 Navarre probably came the closest as he did have his moments before getting hurt and turning it over several times in his one appearance.

Warner can still deliver the ball as accurately as any QB in the game, the real question is when he sees a pass rush will he watch the WR's and deliver the ball or will he watch the pass rush, duck, and then fumble? I don't think anybody knows the answer to that including Warner.

May I Chime In?

We split with them. Period. Have we made more improvements than they this offseason? So far, Yes. As that continues until camp, will we be even better? Yes. On paper, right now are we equal to or better than either? Better imo.
Just with Anderson, Hambrick, and Hodgins, and Croom.
I've a feeling we will contend for the division title this year.

Nidan - when you have ZERO talent on your roster to begin with(which WAS the case with Smack's teams) - it don't matter who gets injured - trash is trash.

Thank God we're in a different era now - now we CAN make excuses when players of value go out!:D
