Started the first one about 3 months ago, haven't gotten far...seemed almost a little too easy to read for me, but I play to go back.

In the middle of a Koontz book right now.

I told my kid sister I'd read Potter if she'd read Lord of the Rings. ;)

I'm actually kind of glad I made the deal, the books are far better than I expected. One thing I have noticed is that the "level" the books are written at seems to increase with each subsequent book, sort of the way each book is a year at Hogwart's.

I finished reading #1 a few weeks ago.

It was a great book, and the movie really is very accurate in its depictions. I'll be reading the others when I get my hands on them--Costco here I come! :D

Both movies have been very accurate.

Try your local used book store - most will carry many copies of it.

This is L.A. There aren't that many used book stores worth anything here. I do miss Bookman's... :(

Me too - Bookman's had a great store in Flag. There are a few good used bookstores in Nashville, but nothing like Bookman's!

That store is great, there are at least two in Tucson, and the one in Mesa at Country Club and Southern. They've been talking for years and years of opening one in Central Phoenix too. Great stores, especially with their books, dvds, and video game selection. They always give you a good deal on trade you bring to them.

There's 2 in Tucson? I only remember the one north of the University across from the Medical Center (I used to almost live at that place). :D

Mike,

The books get noticeably and progressively better (and longer, incidentally). The first two really aren't very good. They are better movies.

The third and fourth books are much better and are good reads. My favorite so far is the 4th.

So, anyone care to speculate who buys it in OOTP?

Do we need a separate thread for spoilers?

Okay, how about this: What house would you want to be sorted into?

Geez...Are we grown people??

Read all four TWICE!!!

My son was just enamored with them! I had to read them twice to him! The fifth book will be MUST reading at our house. I also noticed the books get longer with each new one. The newest will be over 700 pages. Good fantasy/imagination material for kids!

Okay,

Stand up and admit if you actually read the books and are excited about the next one.

I will admit it. The end of Book 4 was outstanding.

The wizard war has begun, and this "kids" series is pretty damn cool.

I enjoyed both movies and purchased them. I would love to read the books, but I am not much of a reader

If you guys haven't read the third book

Then the third movie will suprise you. It's really cool and introduces the coolest character in the series...Sirius Black.

I've read all four, the last two more than once.

I thought the first two really sucked. However, you can actually see her skill get better. The last two were very engaging and flowed well.

I'm excited about the upcoming book. I hope to see a lot of goings on. I'll probably have to wait until after my wife is done with it though. That's okay.

I am pretty stoked for the fifth book to come out.

I originally vowed not to read the "kids" book, but a friend had a copy of one, and found myself enjoying them immensely.

Wayward Fan is correct - the books get better as the series (and her skill in writing them) increases.

I had to read all four books TWICE to my kid! It was pretty enjoyable. My poor wife is lost when me and my son discuss the characters, and subplots of the movies, since we know the stories frontwards and backwards. The movies are as true to the book as they can be cramming so much into a few hours.
