BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Hank Aaron Invitational Showcase Game was played at Rickwood Field for the second consecutive year Wednesday.
The “44 Game” gives some of the nation’s top high school baseball players a chance to display their talents in front of MLB scouts.
Alabama boasted two of the players selected to participate, including Clay-Chalkville’s Kedrick Thomas.
“Just being surrounded by so many great players and just getting a chance to experience the field with them, it’s just taught me so much,” Thomas said.
Huntsville native and Alabama baseball commit Jace Duckett also received an invite. He said it was surreal to play at Rickwood.
“This being my first time, it’s really been a great experience,” Duckett said. “You know, seeing an old ballpark that a whole bunch of hall of famers played at.”
The game will air on MLB Network Saturday at noon.
