The stage is set for the District 11 Class AA Championship game, pitting Tri-Valley and Marian Catholic against each other in a Schuylkill League matchup.
The Bulldogs are seeking their third straight district title, and fifth in the last six years, with the 2021 and 2022 championships coming in Class A competition.
Marian Catholic last won a district title in 2023, capturing the Class A crown.
The two teams last met in April 2024, a 12-1 win for the Bulldogs.
Now they meet with a trip to the PIAA playoffs on the line at 3 p.m. Wednesday at North Schuylkill High School.
How they got there
The top-seeded Bulldogs (18-5) have won 10 of their last 11 games, with the only loss in that span coming against Blue Mountain in the Schuylkill League Championship.
They rebounded from that loss and defeated Schuylkill Haven in the district semifinals, 5-1.
“Winning a (regular season) league title gave us a lot of momentum going into the district playoffs and it makes us feel good and we can compete with anyone,” Tri-Valley’s Peyton Schley said.
Marian Catholic (18-4) has won 12 of its last 13 games, and like Tri-Valley, was dealt its only loss in that span by Blue Mountain.
The Colts opened the district playoffs with a 4-2 win over Minersville and beat Williams Valley 9-2 in the semifinals on Monday.
