The 2025 NFL Draft was a pivotal point for the Denver Broncos to complete their roster.

There wasn't too much for the Broncos to address after a tremendous start to the new league year. If there was one position for the front office and head coach Sean Payton to find it was running back.

The Broncos felt good about their chances to draft a starting running back despite losing Ashton Jeanty early in the draft process to a divisional rival in the Las Vegas Raiders. They were able to find their potential immediate starting running back by drafting UCF Knights' R.J. Harvey with the No. 60 pick.

Harvey gives the Broncos a great combination of speed and power. In 41 games played at UCF, Harvey rushed for 3,792 yards and 43 touchdowns on 579 carries. This past season, he rushed for 1,577 yards and 22 touchdowns on 232 carries.

Now he will join a Broncos' offense that was last in the league in rushing offense despite having a solid offensive line. Harvey will also relieve pressure from second-year quarterback Bo Nix.

Harvey's former UCF head coach as well as Nix's original head coach at Auburn, Gus Malzahn, complimented the move by the Broncos' move to draft Harvey to the Denver Gazette's Chris Tommason.

"Both those guys are really excited to play with each other. (Harvey) and Bo were texting each other."

Malzahn went on to talk about Harvey's excitement about joining the Broncos.

"He's really about Denver. That was one of the teams he had circled. I think it's a really good fit for him."

Harvey will have a great chance to be one of the most productive running backs in the AFC West.
