Holy smokes!

I didn't know that was still up there. I think I was about 21 or 22 in that picture. I am standing on John Omohundro Field.

Here is the new and improved baseball website for my Alma Mater, Seton Catholic High School in Chandler, AZ!

A whopping $500 for the entire season. You gotta love the small private school budgets.

I played baseball for Mountain View probably the same time you were in high school...we sucked but our football team ruled.

I was Class of 1994. I remember playing on a Summer League team for Dobson High during my Soph year (Seton did not have a Summer Team back then) and when we played Mountain View, they had a girl playing 3rd base. It was strange, but she was actually pretty good!

And no...I did not get to first base with her.

Jim, didn't know you went to Seaton...I went to Valley Christian, I think we were in the same wonderful 2A division, lol.

Also, when I was stringing for the paper, I covered a couple of Seaton girls soccer games over in Chandler.

Uh oh!

Did you know BJ Wootan? We played college baseball together. He was a very good hitter.

Isn't that Ryne Sandbergs son-in-law or something? I played against him when I was in high school(went to VC as well)

Nope. Far from it!

You played against B.R. Koenemann. He is Ryne Sandberg's step-son. I actually coached him for a couple of years at Seton. Ryne would help out too.

I guess my only claim to fame is that I beat Ryno in a head to head home run derby. I hit 6 of 10 out and he hit 5 of 10 out. It was a great day.

CT, did you play for Greg Haagsma?

LOL....son-in-law, couldn't think of the word "stepson"

I remember when I was coaching at Seton, we would play VC. I was the 1st base coach and they had a cool 1st baseman. He was a big, tall dude...built like an offensive tackle. We would talk and BS between pitches.

I usually played Left Field, but there was one game against you guys during my senior year where we were at Seton and getting shelled something awful, Hogs let me come in and pitch when we were down by 11 or so :)

My first and last pitching appearance. It wasn't pretty.

Ahhh. I remember the 450ft bomb that was hit off of you. Just kidding. ;)

Coach Haagsma was a classy guy. It was always nice to play VC teams because you were classy...even in defeat. :D

Teams like Superior and Queen Creek were classless punks. Hahaha!

Actually, somoene did hit a bomb off me, over the huge wall in CF. My teammates didn't let me live that one down :(.

I hated those trips to Superior and Florence. Never felt safe, the whole town came out to watch the games and if you were beating them they would get pretty nasty.

I remember in 1994, my Senior year, we played a game at Florence just hours after they executed someone in the gas chamber across the street. We kept saying..."What's that smell" all game.

:D

For those that don't know, the Arizona State Prison is in Florence.
