CLEVELAND -- The Guardians will be sending a trio of representatives to the 2026 All-Star Game, including two rookies, one of whom wasn't a Major Leaguer when the season began.
Closer Cade Smith, rookie starting pitcher Parker Messick and rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana were all voted as American League All-Stars, as announced live on Fox's All-Star Selection Show.
Messick and Bazzana become the third and fourth Guardians rookies to be selected to the All-Star Game, joining Sandy Alomar Jr. in 1990 and Herb Score in 1955.
All three were voted in via the player vote. The 2026 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on Fox.
Bazzana, a former No. 1 overall pick, wasn't promoted to the majors until April 28 but still did enough to earn an All-Star nod, hitting .255 with a .347 on-base percentage, seven home runs, 12 doubles, 27 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 57 games entering July 4, all while handling the top of the Guardians lineup while Steven Kwan has struggled to get going in 2026.
Messick won a job in the Opening Day starting rotation and has been the Guardians' most consistent starter since, posting a 7-5 record, 2.89 ER5 and 106 strikeouts in 101 innings entering his July 4 start against the White Sox.
Messick made seven starts in 2025 but retained his rookie status through the 2026 season.
Smith has maintained his status as one of the game's elite closers and this season leads the American League with 26 saves while owning a 2.97 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings entering July 4.
