The 2025 NFL Draft has come and gone, and now the rookies who were either drafted or signed as undrafted free agents are competing in rookie minicamps with their respective teams.

Some of these players will ultimately secure a spot on a team's 53-man roster, while others may be assigned to the practice squad. Some may be cut, hoping to sign with another team later.

Former Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Kurtis Rourke is one player hoping to make a roster. Rourke had an impressive season, leading the Hoosiers to an 11-2 record, which marked the most wins in school history. He passed for 3,042 yards, threw 29 touchdowns and had only five interceptions while completing 69.4% of his passes.

On the show "Always College Football," college football analyst Greg McElroy praised Rourke and highlighted a key attribute he believes will help Rourke succeed as a professional player.

"I loved what ya'll did last year with Kurtis (Rourke) and his accuracy, I thought was off the charts good," McElroy said. "The guy I think is going to be a pro. I really believe that. I think he's crazy accurate. To think that he played on one leg last year is even more remarkable."

Rourke was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft and signed his four-year contract last week.

However, making the team will be a challenge for Rourke as he joins a quarterback room that includes Brock Purdy, Mac Jones and Tanner Mordecai.

Purdy is considered the likely starter, while Jones, a former first-round pick, spent last season as the backup in Jacksonville. After being signed as an undrafted free agent, Mordecai spent most of the previous season on the practice squad.

During his college career with the Oklahoma Sooners, SMU Mustangs and Wisconsin Badgers, he threw for nearly 10,000 yards and 85 touchdowns.

It is unclear whether the 49ers will carry two or three quarterbacks on the active roster this season. Last year, they opted for two quarterbacks, with Mordecai serving as the third on the practice squad.
