(WFRV) – For the second straight year, the Green Bay Blizzard are Eastern Conference champions and are headed back to the IFL title game with a chance to win the first championship in franchise history.

The Blizzard defeated the Tulsa Oilers 67-60 in an overtime thriller Sunday night at the Resch Center, punching their ticket to the IFL National Championship.

Green Bay quarterback Liam Thompson led the way, throwing seven touchdown passes while accounting for 293 total yards in the victory.

The game ultimately came down to the Blizzard defense, which came up with a game-ending stop to secure the win.

The IFL’s top seed is headed back to the championship game for the second consecutive season. Green Bay came within inches of winning its first title last year, falling 64-61 to the Vegas Knight Hawks in a shootout.

Now, the Blizzard will get another shot at the trophy.

No. 1 Green Bay will face No. 3 Arizona in the IFL National Championship on Sunday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. CT at Tucson Arena.
