At Fan Fest this year I spent time just standing and taking in the atmosphere. Here's what I heard and it was constant: "Where's Fitz? Which one's Larry? I want Larry's autograph!! Why can't I get in Larry's line? Hey, Larry! HEY FITZ!! Larry's hair is really long! Which one is Fitzgerald? He's so cute! The man's a stud! Larry! Over here, Larry. Are you sure that's Larry? Why didn't you get Larry's autograph? I thought he'd be taller/shorter/bigger. Larry! Over here! FITZ!!"
I realised that he's someone everyone wants a piece of. And it's probably 24/7.
Meanwhile, after the autograph session, I was standing along the fence line next to some little kid who was just standing there in awe as all the players walked past. Fitz walked by, took off his hat, walked over to this kid who hadn't said a word, and gave it to him. (Thereby making the kid a hero to everybody he knows.) I was tremendously impressed.
He is more than OK in my book. I love that he is on OUR team!
(I do wish I'd gotten a photo of Fitz with this kid. But it was such a surprise I didn't get the shot. Plus, the closer Larry got to us all I was thinking was, "This man is HUGE!!")
