The Kentucky Wildcats endured a tough season that ended with an ugly loss in the NCAA Tournament's second round. Questions abounded about what the roster would look like going into next season, as Mark Pope tries to justify his position as head coach. It was expected that a number of players who transfer elsewhere, but one question mark was Kam Williams. On Tuesday, Pope and Big Blue Nation received the good news that Williams will be back, as reported by Jonathan Givony of Draft Express.
Williams transferred to Kentucky last offseason from Tulane, where he developed into a terrific two-way player and sharpshooter from three-point range. He was one of the big additions that fit Pope's system.
Unfortunately, Williams got off to a slow start this season, and when he started to get going, he suffered a broken foot that kept him out of the rest of the regular season. Still, he averaged 6 points and 2 rebounds in 24 games played, many of which were on limited minutes.
Williams had stated that he hoped to be back in Lexington this year, and now that has come true. He has two more years of eligibility, and has the potential to be one of the best players on the roster. Welcome back Kam.
