Golden Tempo is named after his dam, Carrumba, whose name is also inspired by a dance term.

Who is Golden Tempo's jockey?​


Jose Ortiz is Golden Tempo's jockey. He’s 0 for 10 in the Derby, his best finish coming with Good Magic (second) in 2018.

His older brother, Irad Ortiz Jr., is also a jockey for another horse that was in the race today, Renegade, who came in second place.
