Armed with the 11th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors have an opportunity to add another young talent to the roster. Given the team's desire to build a competitive team around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Golden State may look to forgo selecting the best player available and focus on adding someone who plugs a legitimate need within the rotation.
According to Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman, the Warriors may be able to kill two birds with one stone. In Wasserman's latest mock draft, he has the Warriors selecting 6'8'' forward Karim Lopez of the New Zealand Breakers with the 11th overall pick.
"Age, NBL production, a 6'8", 221-pound frame and expanding versatility could suggest Karim Lopez can offer both effective, immediate minutes and long-term upside," Wasserman wrote. "He'd be a good fit for teams that have available roles and see a valuable archetype with Lopez's potential to provide physicality at the 4, spot-up shooting and ball-screen playmaking."
Golden State's biggest area of need is clearly in the middle of the court. Addressing the lack of a long-term starting center has to be among the highest priorities for the front office. However, if the Warriors aren't sold on any of the available big men in the draft, Lopez could be a strong fit. He would add size and skill to the rotation.
Furthermore, Lopez's experience with the Breakers would mean he may be slightly more prepared for what an NBA season entails. Of course, there's no way of truly knowing how the Warriors are going to approach the draft. Yet, with so much talent available in the lottery, it's hard to envision them not improving their rotation on June 24.
