The Giants will not hold their training camp in East Rutherford this summer, as they welcome new head coach John Harbaugh.
Instead, they will head to West Virginia for what is expected to be the first two weeks of camp, according to the New York Post.
The Giants last traveled for camp in 2012, to Albany, N.Y., which also was their training camp home from 1996-2010. From 2013-25 (plus the 2011 lockout summer), they stayed home for training camp.
Now, they are heading to West Virginia — apparently just for this summer — because of ongoing construction and upgrades at the team’s training facility, along with preparations for World Cup games at MetLife Stadium.
The exact location in West Virginia — The Greenbrier, a luxury resort in White Sulphur Springs, 470 miles southwest of East Rutherford.
Giants camp dates will be announced when the NFL schedule is revealed in mid-May. Most of the Giants’ practices in West Virginia are expected to be open to the public, according to the Post.
After the first two weeks of camp, teams typically settle into a rhythm that revolves around their preseason games.
This won’t be the first time The Greenbrier has hosted an NFL team for training camp. The Saints spent the summer there from 2014-16. The Texans were there last year, after going in 2017 and 2018.
The Giants this offseason made a big-splash coaching hire by bringing in Harbaugh and giving him full control of football operations, while decreasing general manager Joe Schoen’s powers.
The Ravens had fired Harbaugh after he served as their head coach from 2008-25.
