For NFL teams with a need at the center position, they might want to take a look at former Cleveland Browns center Ethan Pocic.

Pocic saw his 2025 campaign end early due to a torn Achilles, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the former second-round pick is now healthy.

“Browns starting center Ethan Pocic, who tore his Achilles last December, recently was cleared by Dr. Norman Waldrop to participate in training camp. Pocic is a free agent, and is said by a source to be ‘full go,'” Schefter wrote.

Pocic has started in 97 of the 114 games he has appeared in during his career and was the Browns’ starting center for each of the past four years.

The 30-year-old gave up two sacks and 14 pressures in 518 pass-blocking snaps last season and produced Pro Football Focus grades of 63.2 in run-blocking and 62.2 in pass-blocking, ranking 23rd and 25th among centers, respectively.

Here’s a look at three teams that make sense as landing spots for Pocic.

The Washington Commanders decided to roll the dice at center this offseason by releasing Tyler Biadasz, which left uncertainty up the middle.

Currently, Washington has an uninspiring competition for the starting center job between veteran Nick Allegretti and sixth-round rookie Matt Gulbin.

As of right now, Allegretti “has the inside track” to win the job, according to Zach Selby of the team’s official website, but he’s anything but a sure thing. Not only did he post Pro Football Focus blocking grades south of 50 in 2025, most of his experience comes at guard.

It goes without saying that the Commanders could at least use more competition in order to make sure they have the best man for the job to help protect Jayden Daniels.

Pocic would offer stiff competition, and more than likely he would win the job over Allegretti.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens watched their former starting center Tyler Linderbaum leave for a record-breaking deal from the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency and the team hasn’t done anything to replace him.

Instead, Baltimore is slated to start 2024 undrafted free-agent signing Corey Bullock, who has just 13 career snaps on offense during his young career.

For a win-now team like the Ravens that also has to try and keep Lamar Jackson upright and healthy, that’s just not going to cut it.

Signing an experienced vet like Pocic makes all the sense in the world for Baltimore.

New York Giants

Rumors suggested the New York Giantshad interest in Linderbaum before he landed his huge deal with the Raiders, so that is a strong hint New York isn’t totally content with John Michael Schmitz up the middle.

Schmitz has had issues staying healthy during his career, and his performance on the field hasn’t been great, either, with the former second-round pick earning PFF grades of 60.9 in pass-blocking and 63.3 in run-blocking, ranking 28th and 22nd among centers, respectively.

The Giants would be wise to hedge their bet at center by bringing in legitimate competition, which Pocic would no doubt be. Even if he doesn’t beat out Schmitz, Pocic would be elite depth in the event Schmitz gets hurt again.
