New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen provided an update Tuesday on ongoing discussions with All-Pro nose tackle Dexter Lawrence, who requested a trade earlier this month amid stalled contract negotiations.

"We've had good conversations with his representatives throughout the last five or six days," Schoen told reporters. "We've all been in communication. We're all trying to find some resolution. We'd all like for Dexter to be here. And at some point, we'll come to a resolution here, whatever that may be. We'll see. But conversations have been really good. They've been productive. We'll see what happens here down the road."

Schoen added that he remains open to fielding inquiries from other teams.

"I'm always going to pick up the phone, so if a team calls," he said, while noting it may not reach the level suggested by head coach John Harbaugh last week.

Schoen also emphasized that there are no deadlines for finalizing a deal with Lawrence.

Lawrence, a three-time Pro Bowl selection and cornerstone of the Giants' defensive line, formally sought a trade after limited progress on a new deal. He is entering the final two years of his current contract and will sit out the team's voluntary offseason program, which opened last week under new head coach John Harbaugh.

Harbaugh previously indicated he was not surprised by the request and expressed optimism that both sides could reach common ground.

Schoen's comments reflect continued efforts to resolve the situation and keep the 28-year-old in New York.
