After years of trade rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo, this finally feels like the offseason in which a deal could happen. Whether it was during the NBA trade deadlines or offseason speculation, Giannis’ name has always been in trade rumors. But now, with Milwaukee hesitant to commit long-term and several teams close to contention, the market for the two-time MVP is at an all-time high.
The Bucks co-owner said that a deal would likely have to be made before the NBA Draft, meaning a move could happen sooner rather than later. Milwaukee owns the 10th pick and would likely prioritize young talent and draft capital to jumpstart a rebuild. Several teams on the brink of contention could be a good fit for the Greek Freak. Teams including the Warriors, Heat, and the Hornets, but all signs point to the Clippers.

The Clippers are the most realistic landing spot. Despite making the play-in tournament, Los Angeles landed the fifth overall pick after Indiana’s pick fell outside the top four. In a loaded draft class, the fifth pick holds major value, especially with prospects like Darius Acuff Jr. and Keaton Wagler projected in that range.
The Clippers also have intriguing young pieces. Bennedict Mathurin has already shown he can score at a high level when given opportunities, while younger players like Cam Christie and Yanic Konan Niederhauser could appeal to a rebuilding Milwaukee team.
Most importantly, the Clippers are built to win now. Kawhi Leonard proved he is still one of the best, and adding Giannis to a core that includes Darius Garland, Bradley Beal, and Brook Lopez would immediately make Los Angeles a legitimate championship contender.
And if Giannis is going to leave Milwaukee, why not the biggest market in the NBA?

Charlotte is still focused on strengthening their young core, and Giannis does not fit their timeline. The Hornets also hold the 14th pick, which carries less value in a potential blockbuster deal.
Golden State would create a superteam with Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Giannis, but the Warriors lack assets. They lack young talent, and trading for Kristaps Porzingis at the deadline means they likely made their blockbuster trade.
Miami feels like a win-now team, but the Heat’s young pieces are not strong enough to headline a Giannis package. The 13th overall pick also does not carry enough value compared to other offers Milwaukee could receive.
