The deal is finally done. Giannis Antetokounmpo is on his way to Miami.
Late Monday night, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Heat will acquire the two-time NBA MVP and send a package of players and draft picks to the Bucks as part of a trade that changes the Eastern Conference landscape.
Here are the full details on the blockbuster deal between the Celtics and Heat.
Giannis Antetokounmpo trade details
- Heat receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis
- Bucks receive: Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks (2026, 2031, 2033), one pick swap (2030), one second-round pick (2033)
The Bucks will receive a massive haul of assets in exchange for Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis, according to Charania. The top player in the deal for Milwaukee is Herro, who has averaged at least 20 points per game in each of the last five seasons.
As Charania notes, the trade does not currently include any additional teams, but it could expand before it is officially completed next month.
The Celtics' offer for Antetokounmpo reportedly featured Jaylen Brown as the centerpiece after he averaged a career-high 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game last season. Boston also included two first-round picks in its package, per Charania.
Giannis Antetokounmpo contract details
Antetokounmpo signed a three-year contract extension with the Bucks before the start of the 2023-24 season. He has two more years left on that extension with a salary of $58.5 million in 2026-27 and $62.8 million in 2027-28, thought that deal includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.
Antetokounmpo is expected to sign a new contract with the Heat, as the front office wouldn't have sent out such a significant trade package for a one-year rental.
