Georgia baseball player Daniel Jackson earned the Golden Spikes award for his performance during the 2026 season.
The 48th edition of the Golden Spikes Award was given to the junior catcher from Sandy Springs, Ga., on Monday evening by USA Baseball.
The award honors the top amateur baseball player in the nation, one who exhibits qualities such as sportsmanship, character and on-field talent. The winner is an overall positive contribution to the sport of baseball.
Jackson won the 2026 SEC Player of the Year and Triple Crown earlier this season, as well as the Dick Howser Trophy and Buster Posey Collegiate Cather of the Year Award and the National Player of the Year by D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game.
He was named as a consensus pick for the D1Baseball.com First Team All-America and helped Georgia to a school record of 53 wins for third place at the College World Series. Georgia also won the school's first-ever SEC Tournament title and claimed the SEC regular-season title for the first time since 2008.
Jackson led the nation in total bases with 212 and runs with 88, while in second for hits with 100, home runs with 32 and RBIs with 87 — which was also a school record. He led the league with a .379 batting average and led the conference with a 1.276 on-base percentage.
He's one of just three players, the first catcher, in NCAA Division I history to record at least 30 home runs and 25 stolen bases in a single season.
Charlie Condon won the Golden Spikes last for the Bulldogs in 2024 after a similarly record-setting season.
