Georgia Bulldogs transfer running back Branson Robinson is reuniting with his former running backs coach, Dell McGee, and the Georgia State Panthers.
Robinson has excellent strength and will add great amount of experience to the Panthers backfield. Robinson showed a great deal of promise as a true freshman in 2022 when he posted a career-best 68 carries for 330 rushing yards and three touchdowns. However, he missed the 2023 college football season due to a patellar tendon injury. He will look to become the starting running back for Georgia State.
Branson Robinson became the first Georgia player to enter the spring transfer portal. Robinson, who has two seasons of eligibility left, has faced injury challenges during his time with the Bulldogs but is known for his powerful running style when healthy. Robinson did not return to spring practice from his PCL injury, but he continued to rehab it and should be able to play this fall.
The 5-foot-10, 220-pound running back is a former four-star recruit and was arguably Georgia's top power back before injuries derailed his 2024 campaign. Robinson finished with 25 carries for 73 rushing yards and three touchdowns last season before he suffered a season-ending posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury to his knee against Mississippi State.
Robinson is ranked as the No. 24 running back in the transfer portal and the No. 440 overall player, per 247Sports. Robinson was the second-best available running back in the transfer portal.
