Georgia Bulldogs basketball forward Jake Wilkins has announced he plans to enter the transfer portal, per Rivals’ Joe Tipton. The son of NBA Hall-of-Famer Dominque Wilkins, as a talented freshman, Wilkins flashed his potential despite seeing limited playing time. Wilkins has three years of eligibility left.
Wilkins appears to be taking his talents elsewhere next season, as the potential star is expected to draw interest from top college basketball programs. The forward averaged 4.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game last season. He played just 10.2 minutes per game, but scored some memorable dunks and was very productive in getting steals and blocks in his limited playing time.
Wilkins could shine during his sophomore year with more playing time. Wilkins shot an impressive 46.6% from the field throughout the 2025-26 campaign. The 6-foot-9, 190-pound forward would have been a regular contributor on both ends of the floor in Georgia's lineup next season if he had elected to stay. Georgia is expected to lose six or more players to the transfer portal this offseason after making the NCAA Tournament.
Wilkins was ranked as the No. 10 small forward and the No. 45 overall player from the class of 2025, per the 247Sports Composite ranking. As a recruit, Wilkins was ranked as the No. 4 overall player out of Georgia, as Wilkins originally committed to the Bulldogs on Halloween in 2023. Wilkins’ departure is not ideal considering the multitude of Bulldogs who already plan to enter the portal, which opens on Tuesday, April 7.
Georgia has lost a number of key players from the 2025-26 season to the transfer portal recently. Jeremiah Wilkinson, Dylan James, Somto Cyril, Jordan Ross and Jackson McVey all plan to enter the portal in addition to Wilkins, as the Bulldogs will need to reload when the portal opens on Tuesday.
