Georgia Bulldogs center Somto Cyril plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal according to a post he made on social media. Cyril was excellent on both ends of the floor for the Dawgs’ this season and the talented center now plans on playing elsewhere during the 2026-27 campaign.
Cyril played a pivotal role on a nightly basis for coach Mike White and his staff this season. The star center led the SEC in blocks per game with 2.34 and Cyril was named to the All-SEC Defensive team. The 6-foot-11, 260 pound sophomore will be a top target in the transfer portal this offseason, as Cyril plans end his time in Athens following two excellent seasons at Georgia. He will have two years of eligibility left.
Cyril averaged 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game on 75.9% shooting for the Bulldogs this season. The talented center made a massive impact in 21.2 minutes per game, as Cyril will be an instant difference maker for any team that lands him via the transfer portal. He is a rim protector and a lob threat.
Cyril is the third Bulldog that plans to enter the transfer portal since the NCAA Tournament loss vs. Saint Louis. Star guard Jeremiah Wilkinson and junior forward Dylan James plan on transferring this offseason, as Georgia will have a multitude of new faces on the roster for next season. The Bulldogs will return guard Marcus "Smurf" Millender.
"Thank you to the University of Georgia for two incredible seasons as a Freshman and Sophomore," Somto Cyril said via a social media post. "I’m especially grateful to the fans, my teammates, my coaches and Coach White for pushing me to become the best player I could be. After much consideration, I have decided to enter my name in the transfer portal ahead of my Junior season. I am excited and grateful for my next chapter."
