There's a new wide receiver coming to the Cowboys.
Dallas traded for Pittsburgh Steelers wideoutGeorge Pickens in exchange for multiple draft picks. Dallas sent a third-round pick in 2026 and a fifth-round pick in 2027 to Pittsburgh in return for Pickens and a sixth-round pick in 2026.
Pickens was the Steelers' leading receiver in 2023 and 2024. Last season he tallied 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns on 103 targets despite missing three games.
He led the NFL in yards per catch in 2023, his best year in the league, with 1,140 yards and five touchdowns on 63 catches.
Pickens joins a wide receiver room led by star CeeDee Lamb and other veterans but immediately becomes the Cowboys' second-best player at the position.
How much will Dallas be paying him in 2025? Here's a full breakdown of his contract:
Pickens was drafted in the second round, No. 52 overall by the Steelers in the 2022 NFL draft. That means he is still playing on his rookie contract but in his final year.
Here's the specifics from OverTheCap:
Dallas will not be paying Pickens a $522,669 signing bonus for the 2025 season because Pittsburgh was due to before trading him.
If things don't work out in Dallas, the Cowboys could cut or trade Pickens at any point and not carry any dead money on the salary cap for it.
The addition of Pickens makes for a crowded wide receiver room in Dallas. Here's a full list of players currently signed to the roster:
