San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle still has the iconic "F Dallas" T-shirt he wore and was fined $13,659 for in 2023. And, during an appearance on the "New Heights" podcast, Kittle explained the origin of the shirt and where he keeps it to this day.

Kittle said the shirt was inspired by a photo of former 49ers linebacker Gary Plummer, who wore the same style of shirt before a game against the Dallas Cowboys. Kittle said he first saw the image while learning 49ers history under head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch.

When Shanahan and Lynch first got there, they wanted people to understand the history of the Niners... one of the images that was shown to us was Gary Plummer. He was a linebacker, and he was wearing this Dallas T-shirt pregame of a game versus Dallas. I was like, at some point in my career, I want to do that."

I've had the photo saved on my phone for like nine years. And then I finally just got the balls to do it. I bought one for the entire tight end room — I think it was 2023 season. I was the only one who wore it, but I was like, 'F it, I'm going to pull this bad boy out tonight.' And it worked. I'm really glad I did it.

Kittle then admitted he's kept the shirt in his locker every day since.

Kittle also credited Plummer's look — thick neck, "old school classic white linebacker" build — as part of what drew him to the photo in the first place, adding that he later met Plummer's daughter by chance in an elevator.

For what it's worth, Kittle went wild in that game against Dallas. He caught three touchdown passes for 67 total yards in a 42-10 rout of the Cowboys in 2023. And, despite the fine, the 49ers have rallied around Kittle's enthusiasm for the franchise throughout his nine years with the team.
