Most of the NBA has been affected by the blockbuster trade that sent Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers. Even when Giannis Antetokounmpo got traded to the Miami Heat, it was not the biggest story of the offseason.
After 10 years with the Boston Celtics, Brown got traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. This came as a surprise to a lot of people because the package they got in return was Paul George and a haul of draft picks, which is not the best return for a former Finals MVP.
Gary Payton reacts to the blockbuster Jaylen Brown trade
It was surprising to see Brown play for another team, but it seems the relationship between the franchise and the player was broken. He might have one of the biggest contracts in NBA history, but the relationship matters.
Team president Brad Stevens concluded that it was the best move to trade Brown. They share a long history together, but it was a decision he felt he had to make to maintain roster flexibility.

It was a tough trade, but there were other moves present in the market. Unfortunately, teams like the Portland Trail Blazers refused after being one of the favorites to acquire Brown.
"The Boston Celtics made a choice; they went with Tatum. I don't think the relationship was really there... Once Brown went off on the media, I don't think the relationship could have gotten fixed," Payton said about the Brown trade on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
"They just had to move on. I think that they chose Tatum over him. The crazy thing to me is shipping him to the Eastern Conference."
The Celtics vs the 76ers will be a matchup that everyone in the NBA world will keep looking forward to. They are already rivals, but this trade fuels the fire even more because there will be a Brown vs Tatum matchup every game.
