McHENRY — Garrett had plenty of chances to score, but it left 14 runners on base and did so in costly moments.

Despite combining for 10 hits and 13 walks, the stranded runners cost the Lakers (15-7) in a 12-7 loss to WVU Potomac State College on Monday.

GC left 14 runners on base and stranded two runners in four different innings.

The Lakers left the bases loaded in the third and had three other innings with one runner stranded.

The Catamounts (15-6) trailed 7-1 after four innings, but struck for eight runs in the fifth.

Callen Miller hit a grand slam to put Potomac State ahead for good.

Garrett used three pitchers in the frame, allowing four hits and four walks.

Lex Wescott and Tate Musko also went deep for Potomac State.

Musko hit a solo shot in the sixth before Wescott sent a two-run blast in the ninth.

Miller and Wescott each had three hits and combined for seven RBIs.

Noah Broadwater (Keyser) led the Lakers, going 3 for 4 with two walks.

Jaxon Drennen earned the win in five shutout innings of relief, allowing three hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

Potomac State hosts doubleheaders against Westmoreland County on Tuesday, followed by Harford on Friday at 1 p.m.

Garrett plays a doubleheader at Hagerstown on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
