Mikel Arteta is at the Emirates Stadium with the Gunners. Turkish champions Galatasaray have submitted an official €45 million offer to Arsenal for Brazilian international winger Gabriel Martinelli, according to Florian Plettenberg.
Martinelli has emerged as Galatasaray’s top transfer priority late in the summer window, with the Super Lig giants turning to the 25-year-old after hitting roadblocks in their pursuit of AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.
Head coach Okan Buruk is determined to land an explosive, high-profile winger capable of elevating the team’s attack.
For Galatasaray, a €45m bid represents a major statement of intent. Should a deal materialise at that price, it would be one of the most expensive signings in Turkish football history and a record fee for an Arsenal player sale.
Despite the enticing financial package, the Arsenal hierarchy faces a dilemma. The Gunners are open to letting Martinelli go, but only with a replacement lined up. Having failed in their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, Arsenal are keen to add a new left winger.
While other European clubs have monitored Martinelli’s situation in recent weeks, Galatasaray have taken the lead by formalising their intent with a concrete offer.
With the bid now under evaluation by Arsenal, negotiations between the two clubs are expected to accelerate.
The outcome is likely to hinge on whether Arsenal can secure a top-tier replacement before the transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have reignited their interest in Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa to provide defensive cover following William Saliba’s injury on international duty.
Como’s Jacobo Ramon is also admired, but Arsenal are expected to focus their attention on Konsa.
A significant gap remains with Aston Villa, which Arsenal will hope to close with a new bid for the England international.
