The Pittsburgh Steelers have locked up millions of dollars in veteran contracts this offseason, putting the team in a position where the margin for error is thin and the team has to tread carefully when it comes to where money is spent.

Our new 2027 mock draft is set up to future-proof the roster in case the team has to move on from some big salaries and needs players who can fill the void quickly. This draft also avoids a quarterback and lets the Steelers roll with either Will Howard or Drew Allar for the future.

First round - S KJ Bolden - Georgia

The Steelers have a plan for Jalen Ramsey as a hybrid defender but his massive contract could force them to move on after this season and KJ Bolden is the perfect dual-threat option to replace Ramsey in the lineup.

Second round - DT Bear Alexander

We don't see the Steelers investing in Keeanu Benton this offseason and he could end up signing elsewhere and so we go with Bear Alexander here who is a perfect player to pair up with Yahya Black in the middle.

Third round - WR Ian Strong - Cal

This one might seem odd but we aren't at all convinced that DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. will both be back in 2027, especially if either underperforms. Strong is a big, athletic target who could have declared last season and been a Top 100 pick but a year at Cal could cement his status as one of the top pure boundary receivers in the draft.

Fourth round - CB DJ McKinney - Notre Dame

If the Steelers don't sign Joey Porter Jr. to an extension, this could turn into a franchise tag situation and the Steelers rarely gets done cleanly. Even if Daylen Everett develops more quickly than expected, we add McKinney here to help bolster depth.
