The North Carolina Tar Heels just wrapped up their first season in the Bill Belichick era and while it was a disappointing on, the focus is on the future. North Carolina already announced changes coming at offensive coordinator and special teams coordinator, but the roster will also look different too.

On Monday, it was reported that freshman quarterback Bryce Baker is planning on entering the transfer portal when it opens up. Now, we have news on another quarterback.

Per Pete Nakos, quarterback Gio Lopez is expected to return to North Carolina for another season. He transferred from South Alabama last offseason and was named the starter after a competition in the Summer.

Although Lopez beat out Max Johnson, Au'Tori Newkirk and Baker, he struggled in his lone season with the program. Lopez completed 65 percent of his passes but threw for just 1,747 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had five interceptions.

UNC's offense was very inconsistent, leading to the firing of Freddie Kitchens as offensive coordinator. Lopez is looking to get another shot, and a different coordinator could help with that.
