FSU softball commit Addison DeRoche was named the 2025-26 Gatorade Maine Softball Player of the Year, recognizing her as the state's top high school softball player for excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. The award is one of the most prestigious honors in high school athletics and is presented annually by the Gatorade Player of the Year program.

DeRoche, a standout pitcher from Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine, has already established herself as one of the top players in the Class of 2027. She committed to FSU on Oct. 2, 2025, and is the highest-rated member of FSU's recruiting class.

DeRoche's on-field production helps explain why she is considered one of the nation's elite prospects. At the time of her selection, the 5-foot-9 junior right-handed pitcher had led Cheverus High School to a 15-0 record and a berth in the Class A state tournament. In the circle, DeRoche posted a perfect 12-0 record with 181 strikeouts and just seven walks across 77 innings entering postseason play.

She was equally dangerous at the plate, batting .485 with four home runs and an OPS of 1.685 while drawing 18 walks in only 33 official at-bats. The award marked DeRoche's third consecutive Gatorade Maine Softball Player of the Year honor, and she is currently ranked as the No. 4 player nationally in the 2027 recruiting class by Prep Softball.

Although she still has another year of high school softball remaining before beginning her collegiate career, DeRoche's latest honor offers another reminder of the caliber of talent headed to Florida State.
