The FSU Seminoles extended a scholarship offer to 2027 three-star cornerback Trenton Blaylock on March 12. On Friday, he made his first visit to Tallahassee, and he witnessed a spring scrimmage on Saturday.
After spending a significant amount of time with head coach Mike Norvell and cornerbacks coach Blue Adams, Blaylock spoke on his multi-day trip.
"They've been great. We've seen a lot of stuff. I met all the coaches and they all seemed like good people. Like great, passionate people, and that meant a lot to me," Blaylock told Noles247. "Being here for two days, I learned a lot here and it really surprised me for sure."
Adams is in his first year on the job at Florida State, and he's working to build a strong secondary from top to bottom. Blaylock went into detail on why Adams sees him as a fit in Tony White’s 3-3-5 scheme.
"He was talking about my measurables and like my speed, just like things that are like raw talents that you can't really teach," said Blaylock. "He said that is what he looks for most when he evaluates his players is players that he knows he can develop and that already have the raw talent."
Blaylock wasn't just looking at how the cornerbacks performed, but also the safety position. He talked about what he saw from the defense, and how he watched a certain safety who went to school about 45 mins from Atascocita High School, where he attends.
"I might play either one, you never know in college," Blaylock said. "I actually was looking at my boy CJ Richard, he went to Dobie, so he is kind of like where I'm from so I was watching him. He made some plays out there. I just really watched the defense as a whole, see how they get to the ball, create turnovers, and stuff like that."
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder was a productive player as a junior. He produced 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
Blaylock is the No. 537 recruit nationally and the No. 58 cornerback per the 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of Texas, he's the No. 74 prospect.
He has official visits locked in with Vanderbilt, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. As far as an official visit to FSU, Blaylock is working to get a date for that.
