FSU baseball has top 20 recruiting class in the country

The FSU baseball program saw its top two signees in the 2026 recruiting class get taken and sign with an MLB team during the 2026 MLB Draft. While the losses sting, you have to recruit top talent if you want to compete at the highest level in college baseball.

The good news for FSU is that Landon Thome and Kaden Waetcher were their only losses, and the Seminoles still signed a solid class. According to Baseball America, they landed the 19th-best recruiting class in the country, which is also the 7th-best in the ACC.

The class is headlined by four-star right-handed pitchers Donovan Thiery and Brayden Harris, who Baseball America ranks as the No. 102 and No. 143 players in the country, respectively. The top position players are now third baseman Yodelkis Quevedo and outfielder Genson Veras, both three-star recruits.

Florida State landed a pair of high-end righthanders with Thiery and Harris. Thiery has more power behind his fastball, running it up to 98 mph, but Harris has an impressive track record of missing bats by working off a low-to-mid 90s fastball and a sharp breaking ball.

Quevedo and Veras both have swing-and-miss risk but stack up among the best in the country when it comes to righthanded power. Both could potentially develop into middle-of-the-lineup sluggers for Florida State if they can make strides with pitch recognition.

Harris was named a First-Team All-American by Perfect Game as a senior after posting a 1.07 ERA in 85.0 innings, going 12-2 in 15 appearances. He allowed just 21 runs (13 earned) as opponents hit .149 off him with 19 walks and 165 strikeouts. He and Veras will both have a chance to carve out roles as freshmen for the Seminoles during the 2027 season.
