Kaden Waetcher is officially turning pro instead of joining the FSU baseball program. The pitcher reportedly signed with the San Francisco Giants on Friday, according to Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline.
The deal is reportedly worth $3,247,500, well above the slot value of the 55th pick, which was worth $1,763,000. He was FSU's top-ranked pitcher commit and is their second high school commit who has turned pro and will not make it to Tallahassee.
He had an excellent senior season at Jesuit High School, going 6-3 with a 1.15 ERA in 61 innings. He allowed 16 runs on 34 hits and 15 walks, holding opponents to a .159 batting average and striking out 82 batters. Waechter finished his prep career 13-5 with a 1.01 ERA in 104 1/3 innings, striking out 135 batters and walking 28. Opponents hit .154 off him and had just two home runs in 370 at-bats.
Landon Thome, FSU's top position player commitment, is also turning pro and signed an above-slot deal with the Minnesota Twins. All 10 of FSU's players taken in the 2026 MLB Draft have officially signed deals, with Myles Bailey also signing an above-slot deal.
