Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman took a terrifying fall during Wednesday night’s game, just one day after wife Chelsea Freeman opened up about a “really scary” medical emergency.
Freddie, 36, tumbled into the visiting dugout while trying to catch a foul ball during the Wednesday, August 12, game against the Kansas City Royals. Luckily, the World Series champ walked away with minor bumps and bruises.
“I didn’t hit my head, so that was the key part there,” Freeman said following the game, according to AP. “I am sore. Kneecaps are sore. Shoulder is sore. Hand sore. Wrist sore. I mean, I fell. [But] I’m in good spirits.”
However, the father of four — who shares sons Charlie, 9, twins Brandon and Maximus, 5, and daughter London, 4 months — was likely playing on little sleep as his wife, Chelsea, 35, has been recovering from a hospital stay.

“Woke up in the middle of the night with really sharp, intense chest and back pain,” she explained via social media on Tuesday, August 11, per People. “Thought I was having a heart attack so I called 911. It was honestly really scary, especially because Freddie was on the road.”
Chelsea, who gave birth to their baby girl in April, underwent “a heart CT, chest X-rays and an echo.”
“I saw a cardiologist for a follow up today and he thinks it may have been pericarditis or myocarditis,” she added.
While she’s “feeling much better,” doctors are keeping a close eye on Chelsea.
