Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman
Freddie Freeman took a fall down the stairs into the Kansas City Royals dugout on Wednesday while tracking a foul ball.
Freeman initially stayed in the game, but was pinch-hit for in the eighth inning. The Dodgers had a 4-2 lead at that point, but the game was not secured by any means. Still, the team took a cautious approach.
“I didn’t hit my head, so that was the key part there," Freeman said after the game. "I am sore, kneecaps are sore, shoulder sore, hand sore, wrist sore. I mean, I fell. I’m in good spirits. I’ve already cold-tubbed, done everything I need to do to put myself in a position to be able to hopefully play tomorrow… We’ll just see how I feel tomorrow when I wake up. Right now, I'm just sore.”
Freeman, 36, does not like to miss games and often plays through injuries. It seems like the Dodgers dodged a bullet this time, but he did note that after the adrenaline wore off he motioned to the coaches that he may need to be pinch-hit for.

When Freeman emerged from the dugout, he was showered with chants of "Freddie" from the Dodgers faithful. Fans remember the ankle injury that he has played through in the past and still manages.
"I'm ok. This one's not my ankle, so I should be okay," Freeman said in the postgame.
The Dodgers have a very pivotal series against the Milwaukee Brewers starting on Thursday, so having Freeman will be very important for them.
