Monday's World Cup match between France and Iraq in Philadelphia was delayed coming out of halftime due to thunderstorms.

Kylian Mbappe gave France a 1-0 lead with a 14th-minute strike before the skies opened up at Lincoln Financial Field. With severe weather in the area, fans were told to leave their seats and seek shelter on the concourse.

When will France vs Iraq restart?

According to the Fox broadcast, the game was scheduled to resume at 7 p.m. ET if the weather held off. Players were scheduled to begin warmups at 6:30 p.m. ET.

What is FIFA's World Cup 2026 extreme weather policy?

FIFA does not have an official policy for lightning and storm delays.

Typically, there has been a 30-minute mandatory delay if there is a lightning strike within eight to 10 miles of the stadium. Each subsequent strike adds another half-hour to the delay.
