A group of four former Duke lacrosse players were tabbed to play in the 2026 PLL All-Star Game, which took place on the campus of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, on Sunday afternoon.
Brennan O’Neill and Michael Sowers headlined the West and East teams, respectively, as starters, while Andrew McAdorey and JT Giles-Harris served as reserves.
Sowers, who made his fifth All-Star Game appearance, helped open the scoring with a highlight-reel behind-the-back pass to set up the first goal of the game for the East.
McAdorey dished out an apple of his own when he assisted on the West’s second goal of the contest to knot the game up at 2 late in the first quarter.
At halftime, select players from both teams were chosen to participate in the PLL Fastest Shot competition, and O’Neill, in his third-straight All-Star appearance, got the nod to partake.
His personal best shot registered at an impressive 106 miles per hour, the fastest by a short-stick player, but he was unfortunately unable to advance to the finals of the competition.
O’Neill, the reigning ASG MVP, then scored the first goal of the second half for the West to cut the deficit to 8-4 with under six minutes left in the quarter. The tally ended a near 19-minute scoring drought and was assisted by O’Neill’s long-time college rival Pat Kavanagh, who played his school ball at Notre Dame.
The East’s lead continued to shrink when McAdorey scored his first goal of the game to make the score 8-6 with 1:17 left in the third quarter.
O’Neill added an assist in the fourth quarter, part of a massive run by the West, making the score 10-8 in O’Neill’s squad’s favor with 7:58 left in the game.
After going 8-3 in the third quarter, the West ran the table and defeated the East 12-9 to give O’Neill and McAdorey bragging rights amongst the former Blue Devils.
The PLL and the former Blue Devils will resume their regular season Friday for a set of games in Chicago.
