NORTH DIGHTON— In the towns of Dighton and Rehoboth, the Bosco family is synonymous with lacrosse.
Tony and Kara Bosco helped launch Dighton-Rehoboth Youth Lacrosse, with the husband and wife duo later going on to helm the Falcons' boys and girls varsity clubs respectively, with Kara still in charge of the girls squad while Tony assists with both. Their son AJ, a 2023 D-R graduate, was an All-Scholastic attacker who put up 38 points in his senior campaign.
But if there's one family member who truly has established themself as the face of Falcons lacrosse the past few years, it's Karina Bosco.
The senior attacker and Plymouth State commit has been a starter for D-R since the eighth grade, establishing herself as the program's top scorer by the end of her freshman year. The 2022, 2023 and 2024 Taunton Daily Gazette Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year, Karina Bosco has been at the forefront of the Falcons' evolution from a South Coast Conference afterthought to a consistent challenger.
"She's been the one who helped truly build the program because she got all of her friends involved, starting in (DRYL) eight years ago and they're still playing with her today," Kara Bosco said. "It's been truly amazing to see them grow and into these amazing athletes and be part of their success."
For Karina Bosco, it's the strength of those friendships that has helped allow her to flourish both on and off the field.
"We're all really close, so watching all of our friends accomplish all of these things when thye're just really good players is really cool."
Among those friends is fellow senior captain and midfielder Oliva Thibert, who Karina Bosco will continue to have by her side next year as the duo head up to the Granite State to attend and play lacrosse for Plymouth State University.

"I'm really excited because I love playing with her and we really connect well out on the field," Karina Bosco said.
To get to where she is has taken work, and Karina Bosco has strived to improve with each spring. In her debut season as an eighth grader in 2021, the Falcons won just one contest while she recorded 31 of the team's 69 goals. A year later, and with a full length season, Karina Bosco soared to 61 goals and 7 assists as she helped D-R to a then program-best 9-9 record and their first-ever postseason berth.
She followed that up with a 76-goal season her sophomore year and an area-best 91-goal season as a junior, putting her at 259 goals entering her final season. From there, it took her just 8 games to reach 300 career goals, doing so in an 18-5 win over Taunton. Taunton happens to be the school where her mother was a field hockey captain and member of the 1997 Division 1 champion softball team and her grandfather, Bruce Borden, is a Hall of Famer as part of the 1967 Massachusetts Class-C champion football team.
"It's been a special experience for Karina and I," Kara Bosco said. "I'm lucky that we have the close bond that we have and that we can both work with each other in this way and still have a great mother-daughter relationship outside of lacrosse. I'll always cherish this."
While not having her daughter alongside her next year, Kara Bosco said she's excited to see Karina continue to grow under a different head coach.
"I think she's going to surpass every goal that she's ever thought she could just having a fresh set of eyes on her and spreading her wings a little," Kara Bosco said.
As for the rest of this season, Karina Bosco said her goal is to continue to beat talented teams such as B-R in games where her and the Falcons would've struggled a year or two ago. That ability and belief, for Kara Bosco, is the most important part of her daughter and fellow members of the Class of 2025's legacy.
"They have truly made D-R lacrose what we are," Kara Bosco said.
