Friedman, a senior for the Bison, came through as the event’s top seed. Though sitting in seventh place entering the second flight, Friedman posted a final throw of 61-0.5 to take first over Laurel's Kevin Mahoney.

The Mercyhurst University recruit was favored to win based on his District 10 championship distance of 59-2½.

Audrey Friedman is in her final track and field season at Penn State University. Erick Friedman, Mason's father, is a former world masters titlist for the javelin.
